View Full Version : I miss Blockbuster!

Only because every week I could easily see what was coming out on DVD so I could then download the torrent!! :D
But now, weeks go by and I have no idea what's out. Since the PS3 died, it was about 6 months of no downloading. Surely there's a ton of movies I missed out on....but for some reason I can't find shit.
I'm downloading Cabin in the Woods right now....*yawn*.
Any good one's the past few weeks/months?

Oh. Why, thank you sir.

And stop confusing this forum with simple, easy, logical answers!

Fuck blockbuster. They put all the mom and pop video stores out of business in the late 80s by undercutting rental prices then once the mom and pop store 2 blocks away shut down they’d jack them back up. I hope they rot in hell.

Irony, you blame BB for putting the M&P out of the movie rental biz and Dave is asking for data for his downloads. Irony.

I hear what you are saying though, I hold the same opinion when my local cafe, greasy spoon and fast food joints board up and leave. Oh and the "British bar by the yard" moves in and again the local bar boards up.

Hahaha...that's funny. And true.
But it's funny...I used to curse them and their damn late fees, but we drive by our old Blockbuster and fondly think of those "Movie Nights". The whole family would pile on down to BB and everyone would get their own Movie, Game, Popcorn, treats, etc. The store would be packed and it was just a good family time.

Oh well. Sweet!!! I'm getting 1.5 on my downloads!

Oh, and those are great sites...I'll add those to the bookmarks. Thanks.

Not in Bridlewood - the old Block Buster space is all leased out. New Tim Hortons, HR Block and a local vet moving over/in - two chains and an independent.

I miss it for Game rentals.

I hardly ever play video games anymore so I don't ever want to buy anything but there are definitely lazy days where I wouldn't mind renting a game and killing some time.

Not sure if they cater to anyone outside of the US, but there is GameFly.com. Check it out.

I miss blockbuster and any other movie rentals because then, you could walk and look for some old classic movies that you haven't seen yet or in a while.

Guys the local library has Blu-ray, all can be reserved on their website. Keep 'em for a week or more if renewed. Fines are there if late.

WAHHAHTHTHTTT!? For $5/month, it's better than Netflix.

Welllll, depends on how much you think your time is worth going to the library + picking + heading home.

I miss Block buster for movie nights as well. Going with the GF at the time walking the isles, browsing the new releases, picking up a bag of candy or something etc. Movie nights were always fun like that. For some reason scrolling through Video On Demand or Netflix or downloading just isnt the same

ahhaha that was the other thing

Blockbuster candy was usually the best & freshest you could get outside of a movie theatre. in Crowfoot and Cochrane at least anyway

I hated walking into Blockbuster to get a new release just to find them all gone already and have to walk out with some crappy movie.
