hey, i was driving my 90 accord exr all day, and it was running fine. I was half way back from high river, and I tried to accelerate in 5th, and its like I lost power, anything past 3000rpms seemed to make no difference. I got into the Shawnessy shopping center, and when I put the car in neutral, it began shaking really bad!!! But when I put it in gear the shaking calms down alot, but my car sounds like a big ass tuned truck!!!
What the hell could this be??? Fuel line problem? It happened so suddenly and out of no where, so I am totally stumped........was hoping someone here could give me some advice..............

PLEASE HELP!!!!:(

I'm no expert, but is there a balance shaft belt on those cars?

no there isnt a balance shaft belt on them i believe. sounds like the motor mounts may be bad and it's causing torque over or something but I think that when it is in gear it would still do it. there are a lot of possibilities....

the car idles normally, around 1rpms or just under it. When I accelerate the shaking reduces.....the higher I rev the less it shakes

i'm thinking it may be a fuel problem.fuel line or pump

i dunno:dunno:

This happened in my dads Nissan a few years ago, and it actually was the timeing belt had skipped a few teeth, adn had messed everything up, so go to a mechanic and get them to check your timing.

sounding like a truck... catalatic converter... as for shaking, dont think that would make it shake.. but your c.c. might have broke... that could explain your car sounding liek a truck.

my sister had a similiar problem with her accord S, it shook really bad and lacked power, after 3 trips to the shop it turned out to be a leak in the head gasket, it fixed the problem, don't know why it stopped the shaking tho? i'm no expert but i hope that helps dude

oh.....ya i bet thats the whole problem, explains the loud truck sound, plus you have no backpressure on the engine

actually, is it just the muffler thats gone? or the whole exhaust? did it just fall off?

the exhaust was removed because it was garbage, about a month ago.......the pipes are still there, just the exhaust is gone:nut: i dunno if im explaining that correctly

why don't you take the car to a shop, based on what your saying it's really hard to tell exactly wahts happening
