View Full Version : For Rent: Truck part deux!

I am sure you all remember my old thread (LINK) (http://forums.beyond.ca/st/236098/for-rent-truck-/) , well, I no longer have the White Dodge Beastie.

I am now willing to offer my new truck, a 2012 Ford Ecoboost, so it just got cheaper as this is way better on gas!

As before, there is no monetary "fee" per say. All I ask for in return is the cost of my gas and a couple beers or lunch, or what ever you see fit.

My only real disclaimer is this. I am not a professional mover, and will assume no liability for damages or injuries or whatever. Anyone wanting to take me up on my offer inspects the loads before leaving and gives the green light.

I have already helped out quite a few beyonders, and some of them have been nice enough to leave me feedback, and I am sure they will all vouch for me, and my abilities.

The downside to this is, the new truck does have a shorter box, so in some instances things may not be practical to load into it. However, I do have access to a small 5x10 enclosed trailer that can be used as well. If you want to use that, I have to head out to Cochrane to get it, so be prepared for a few extra dollars in fuel.

As always, I always go with my truck, and always drive it.

Another Beyonder, Codetrap, has offered the use of his trailer.
I do have a snowbear trailer that's 6x5 that can be expanded to 10x5 by reconfiguring it. It's got a 1500lb capacity.

He lives quite close to me, and has made it available with a bit of notice. Hats off to him.

Additionally, I am also looking for access to a flat deck trailer to haul cars with for Beyonders if anyone is willing to offer theirs for use as well.

again, you show why you are one of the "good guys" on beyond. Also, nice truck, that's about exactly what I'm looking at buying, whenever natural gas, and my stock options, rebound.

Meh, I try. Beyond has been good to me in the past, and I always believe in trying to pass along good karma as it usually comes back.

But I am on the look out for a trailer to help you guys move project cars and such, and if one comes up for a steal, I will go grab it. Alternatively, if some people on beyond want to help and chip in, please let me know!

In line with spikers great offer. I have a small snowbear utility trailer that I'm willing to lend out. The only *price* per se, is that you repair/replace whatever you damage, and you bring it back clean.

Its only about 500lbs, so you can pull it behind a decent sized car. It has a 1500lb capacity. Great for moving large appliances and saving the $50 fee. As with spikers, I'm willing to pull it for the cost of my gas. If you just want to borrow the trailer, no charge.

I also have a motorcycle chock that I bought for hauling bikes, and some soft loop straps for use tying them down.

I can be reach via PM, and will usually answer pretty fast.

Frick, I TOTALLY forgot about this thread.

Spikers, if you need other trailers, you can always call these guys.
http://www.greenwoodrentals.ca/

^They rent trailers of a wide variety of types & applications, and sell off the older ones as well.

(Just another option for you). Their decent new trailers, so pretty much the polar opposite of the shit you'd find at Uhaul.

100% recommended! Excellent communication, patient as I didn't have everything ready when he showed up. He came prepared with what was needed for the move and got his hands dirty by helping with the load and unload. If this was ebay you'd get a A+++

Thanks again for your help!

Here's a link to my actual Utility Trailer, just so everyone knows what it is and what it can probably do.

http://www.codetrap.net/binaries/M6000_ss.pdf

Occasionally, I can source an enclosed 14' trailer as well if I'm given enough advanced notice. I'll also be the one pulling it, as I'm borrowing it from a buddy so I'm responsible for it.

As always, toss me some cash for gas and beer. Of course dump fees are your responsibility as well.

Sorry... stupid question. Are you lending out the truck, or the truck plus yourself as a driver?

Both are incredibly gracious... the former running the risk of people damaging/beating on it, and the latter taking up your time.

I wish I had seen the thread before getting a washer and dryer delivered a week ago. On the other hand, the guy I bought it from moved them in my basement for me so I guess that was a plus....

Honestly though - props to you. If it was me, I'd put a restriction on it... just to ensure you're not dicked around by occasional or new members. Say, minimum 500 posts to ensure you're helping out a site contributor, and someone who will be accountable to the forum.

LOL, no I always drive and go with the truck. As trusting as I am, no way am I letting some random drive it and take off with it for who knows how long.

HAHAHA!

I must say props to codetrap for letting me borrow his trailer last weekend. Without it I would've had to do 2 trips to move which would've taken double the amount of time. Never even got to meet him, just picked up the trailer and returned it when I was done.

HAHAHA!

Understandable. But then, you're not just donating your truck but also your time. I commend you good sir. I like to think I'm a pretty good guy, but wouldn't be one to lend out my truck to people I'm not familiar with... especially a new one.

Bump!

Might as well add onto this than to start new thread.

Spikers is my friend, but I was still in need of an open box truck for a tall item to pickup. (my truck has a topper)

But he's the kind of guy that'll try to find time to help people when he can. (of course donations; beer/money/etc.. always welcome lol)

I called Chris in a bind, I had an oversize parcel that landed at the freight company's yard in Calgary. (the shipping company were a pain to deal with trying to figure out charges from their Cgy warehouse to a private residence address; I'm guessing my parcel is too "small" of a job to send a full size 18 wheeler semi, etc... So the shipping company gave me the bullshit of trying to local their smaller truck division/need more time organizing/need more $$ to get it from Calgary yard to my house, etc... I ended up giving that amount to Spikers anyways)

Anyways, Spikers came over and picked me up. And we went over to the freight shipper's yard to pick the parcel up in person.

And of course Spikers isn't a professional moving company, so please be aware that the user should still be responsible and accept the risks involved. (I was ok taking that risk). And knowing Spikers, he'll most likely confirm with you if YOU feel safe/comfortable how the haul is being tied/handled.

Anyways, Spikers helped me get the item all the way into the house (i.e. not just at front door)

Just a heads up, SpikerS is super awesome!

Helped me move a motorbike on a few days notice. I wasn't in a major rush but he was super helpful and had all the straps needed. It was fairly cold out and fairly far away from where he lived.. still was happy to help!

Also had a decent chat with him afterwards. Very stand up guy!

if you're in a bind or need a hand, He's the guy you should go to. In all my interactions with him, he's always been more than accommodating.

Thanks again Chris!

Are you currently still doing this?
I have to transport a roller toolbox from the NE to NW

indeed, I am!

however, I hope the chest is empty if we gotta lift it into the truck, as I don't have a ramp for something like that.

Hey Spikers, wondering if I could get a hand with picking up some rubber floor mats. What is your availability during weekdays?

There will be 5 floor mats which are 4'x6' and weigh ~ 100lbs each.

Cheers!

Shit, sorry I missed this, if you still need it moved, let me know. Codetrap sold his trailer, so it is not an option right now. If I get some extra cash, I will probably get one, just not sure when.
