Poor lotus had to remove the double drs again, is it even worth it at this point?

So much traffic at the end of FP3, no clue where anyone stands right now, very few people got a clean lap in there.

Hamilton almost rear ended Pic under braking near the end there. Pic decided to slow to 20kph at the braking zone on the racing line after 130r. Crazy shit.

I'll be surprised if there isn't a ton of penalties handed out. qualy and FP3 was a mess, Senna definitely could've capitalized on maldonado's poor showing.

Kimi Raikkonen was at his best during a post-qualifying interview at the Suzuka circuit where he made his thoughts on the subject at hand quite clear.

The Lotus driver, who had made it through to Q3 in qualifying for the Japanese GP, came up short in the final minute when he lost control of his E20 at Spoon Curve and beached his car in the gravel.

As the chequered flag was waved the yellows were still out for Raikkonen's car meaning his rivals were forced to back off in that sector.

Asked what happened, Raikkonen said: "I spun."

Clearly.

Asked about the impact his yellows would have on the rest of the field, he said: "I don't care what happened to the others."

You have to love him.

Lewis Hamilton admits a botched decision regarding the set-up of his MP4-27 is what cost him dearly in qualifying for the Japanese GP.

The McLaren driver, together with team-mate Jenson Button and the two Red Bull drivers, had been a favourite to take pole position ahead of Saturday's qualifying.

But while his three rivals claimed the top three positions on the timesheets, Hamilton brought his McLaren home in a disappointing ninth place, 1.488s adrift of pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel.

Hamilton was quick to put up his hand and admit responsibility, saying he had opted for the wrong set-up.

"Today's qualifying session was one of the most disappointing of my year," Hamilton lamented.

"To be honest, I went the wrong way with the set-up and ended up with too much understeer.

"Until quali, the car had felt great all weekend, but I just couldn't make it turn this afternoon, and as a result I just couldn't extract the best from it."

The Brit, though, is not giving up, confident that through "good tyre management" he can work his way to the front of the field.

"Jenson showed that the car itself is quite good though - he did a great job today - and our long-run pace wasn't bad yesterday, either.

"So you never know what's going to happen in tomorrow's race.

"It's going to be a struggle, but I'll be pushing my hardest with the set-up I've got, and I hope that, through good tyre management, I'll be able to overtake some of the cars in front of me.

"I'll be trying to get as many points as I can tomorrow."

Hamilton arrived in Japan fourth in the Drivers' Championship on 142 points, 52 behind Championship leader Fernando Alonso.

'Grosjean is a first-lap nutcase'
Sunday 7th October 2012

'Grosjean is a first-lap nutcase'
Mark Webber has lashed out at Romain Grosjean, saying it's time the Frenchman went on "another holiday."

Grosjean has made a name for himself this season not only for his speed but, unfortunately for his rivals, also for his first lap incidents.

This resulted in the Lotus driver being slapped with a one-race ban for the Italian Grand Prix after he took out several drivers, including Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, at the first corner at Spa.

However, it seems Grosjean hasn't quite learnt his lesson as the Frenchman was back at it on Sunday in Japan, driving into the back of Webber's Red Bull at the first corner.

Grosjean was handed a ten-second stop-go penalty, however, that didn't take away from the fact that he had damaged both Webber's car and the Aussie's grand prix.

"I haven't obviously seen what happened at the start but the guys confirmed that it was the first-lap nutcase again Grosjean," Webber said.

"The rest of us are trying to fight for some decent results each weekend but he is trying to get to the third corner as fast as he can at every race.

"It makes it frustrating because a few big guys probably suffered from that and maybe he needs another holiday.

"He needs to have a look at himself, it was completely his fault. How many mistakes can you make, how many times can you make the same error?

"First-lap incidents... yeah... it's quite embarrassing at this level for him."

Alonso out in the first lap :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Massa finally comes in second the one time we don't need him.

Nice pass by Perez on Hamilton the first time. Second time, fail. Although it looked like he was actually just trying to save the car, not go for the pass.

I'm surprised Grosjean didn't get another race ban to be honest.

The first Perez on Hamilton pass looked easy. Hamilton says he was not fighting Perez for the sake of the championship, but in reality, he was almost a second a lap slower than Perez once he got past.

Perez got a good run on Lewis but with Lewis going defensive and Perez putting a wheel off, he was only trying to save the car and not crash into Lewis the second time around.

Just saw the race due to torrent. Seemed like an easy win for Vettel out front. Alonso has to shitting a brick right now seeing his lead evaporate. anyone have any details on the new aero package Redbull is launching next week?
