To follow up with Kobe's Tattoo thread it got me thinking. I'm heading to Thailand in November and considering getting a tattoo over there with the traditional bamboo method.

Has anyone ever done this in Thailand?
Do you have a reputable/clean shop you would recommend to me?

For those that haven't seen this done before here's a video:

Thanks!

Can't help you out with that, but I know there is a polish guy here that takes 400e/hour for tattoos, i forget his name though

So just because of the country does not mean its going to be cheaper usually.. (Maybe a bit overall) I got mine cheaper since it was my buddy doing it from home and not a shop but has been doing it for years...

I don't know about tattoos but if recent movies have taught me anything be very careful if you get a hooker (Hangover II)

hmm I don't know man... when I was in Thailand those guys weren't even wearing gloves when tattooing people. A little bit iffy and there are sooooooo many tattoo shops all over the place it's a little bit ridiculous. If you don't care just choose a shop and go in, but if you do, research a reputable non-tourist shop haha.

Yeah, a few years back there I really wanted a traditional piece but I didn't find a place where I felt safe with the sterilization practices so I just didn't.

Fine as in been tested for hep c and is clear or fine as in "I feel good bro."?

Mind you that's likely irrelevant since I doubt a lip tattoo was done by bamboo? The traditional methods were where I did not feel confident.

I have roughly half a dozen friends who have traditional bamboo tattooss, all tested negative.
Some have even been tested twice MONTHS after the first test. Ive spent ALOT of time in Thailand and have seen my fair share of sketchy stuff but from experience they seem pretty safe.
Bamboo tattoos however are more painful than traditional gun method.

Pain isn't the issue, more going for the experience and if it works out to be cheaper than its another advantage.
