So looks like a lot of people have both the Samsung galaxy s3 as well as the iPhone 5 now... And other than random posts in each thread I couldn't find any other info, so I came up with this idea.

Can ppl download the speedtest.net app and run some speedtests?
Plz include device used, phone company, and general location :)

This way we can get a rough idea of how LTE speeds are in Calgary in different parts of the city and what the difference is between carriers and locations.

Also cuz according to Rogers coverage maps the entire NE is missing LTE coverage while telus/bell show full coverage of Calgary and beyond :nut:

This thread isn't meant to be an iSheep vs fandroid bitchfest, just focusing on LTE quality and coverage between the different carriers :drama:

If anyone else has another LTE device feel free to post your speedtest too

That because who ever made the map thought the NE was the middle east...

Seriously though, There's lots of coverage on the Rogers map, which one are you looking at?

I looked at this same map last week and north of memorial drive and east of 36st had "planned" LTE coverage and today, same day I make this thread, I first get a text from Rogers saying LTE has arrived in my region and 2nd evidently the map has been updated :nut:

Oh well, the posts will still give an idea of where LTE sucks and which carrier lol

//edit
That map is hilarious. Random holes in coverage from saddleridge all the way down to temple, yet random bodies of water have LTE coverage If u follow Stoney trail north of saddleridge where it turns west

These speeds are staggering compared to mine. Currently I'm on a provider called Telstra in Australia. Obviously speed still differs by location, however in the business district of Brisbane I'm downloading at ~14Mb/s and uploading at around the same.

I should mention that this was tested on an iPhone 5, LTE dongle and, s3

Maybe when the mobile carriers start including 400GB of data usage with their plans instead of 6GB

oh i didnt realize its only 6gb.. but really - who needs 40mbits bandwidth on a mobile phone that would only use 6gigs/month.

According to the Rogers map I should have LTE in my Calgary location, I can confirm there is no LTE connection so the map is crap.

For those who aren't getting fast LTE speeds, they should check out Loxcel Canadian Tower Map (http://www.loxcel.com/celltower). It's updated very frequently and shows all tower locations for every carrier and can filter to show only 3G or LTE towers.

If you are constantly getting a slow LTE speed, then it might be due to traffic congestion. To experience LTE speeds, you may want to locate the closest LTE tower, drive to it, and run the Speedtest.

The speed in Canada better be faster than Australia... You guys have such awesome rates even on prepaid Telstra. I paid like $20 for 5GBs of data and still have money to call home.. Meanwhile, you guys have shitty broadband wired service.
