Hey everyone,

I recently picked up an '02 RSX Type S, and if there's one thing that keeps bugging me (asides from the lack of torque haha) it's the oem steering wheel! It's much too thick for my tastes, I really feel like I can't get a grip on it like I could do on my momo wheel in my old 240, or even my brothers oem '02 wrx momo wheel. Even my Mom's '06 Corolla feels better!

It even looks kinda bulky, so I took off the cruise control buttons. I was looking into a DC5R wheel, but it's essentially the same thing. Has anyone gone from RSX to AP1 S2000 before, and if you have, is the S2000 wheel thinner/easier to get a grip on?

And of course, as the title states, is it a direct plug and play with an AP1 wheel into an '02 RSX? Not a fan of the AP2 wheel, and I'd rather keep the oem look (and an airbag). I've been doing some reseach but can't seem to find any real answer.

Thanks!

I researched this a couple of years ago and this isn't fact but I vaguely remember someone saying it's almost direct plug and play but not quite. If I remember correctly (I probably don't), one is a dual stage airbag and the other is a single stage so you need to find somewhere to put the extra wire.

This is a very vague memory, just make sure you check it out.

Thanks Mar! That's more info than what I've gathered online. I guess I'll keep researching...I'd rather not buy it and then find out it doesn't work at all.

ap1 wheel as far as i know is direct bolt in for an 02-04 rsx
ap2 wheels are dual stage airbags as are the 05-06 rsx ones

The steering wheel from an AP1 is pretty much identical to an RSX wheel anyway isnt it?

Thanks everyone. I also wonder how different the two wheels are. Visually, I certainly prefer the S2000's but I just want to know if the '3' and '9' positions on it are any thinner at all. With the current wheel it feels like I am steering with just my thumbs, as my hands can't get a proper grip on it. And my hands aren't that small.

Might have to go to a dealer and see...
