Where does everyone take their car to get their winters put on? They are already on steelies and ready to go... just want to take it somewhere with a hoist and torque gun to do it quick.

Called Mazda and Midas, but i'm having a hard time justifying throwing down $65 for this...

Anyone have a secret shop somewhere in the North close to Huntington Hills that can do this cheap?

I just got my winters mounted and balanced at speed options for 80.

Try giving them a call and see what they say

Staff and service there is awesome and its one of the cheapest places i have ever went too. Should be $5 a tire.

What's $65? If you're that cheap then do it yourself, if you can change a flat then you can swap them out.

$65 may be a lot for 5 mins work but I hate people who don't understand how a business works. There's tons of overhead associated with owning a business completely justifies a $65 charge for this.

Lol, why u mad at me for shopping around? Obviously there's shop overhead, but really, $65 for 10 minutes or less of a mechanic's time? I don't think they are worth $390/hr but maybe its just me.

For the record I usually do go to my dealer (North Hill Mazda) since they drive me to work after, but just seeing if there's a better deal out there.

DIY. The wait time is crazy going to a shop. Got mine done in the garage today. :winter:

^^ thats another thing, they quoted me 40 bucks and a wait time of up to 5 hours. fuck that.

i have to use 2 jacks (the stock acura jack and my regular jack because i dont have a low profile jack that will fit under my car) and it still only took me 40 minutes for all of them, with my 3 year old kid crawling on top of me and slowing me down.

its not worth it to take it in and wait for it to be done when you can do it yourself for no time or charge at all.

mounting tires is a differnt story though

but ya, did mine last night... good ole 80 gallon compressor, ingersol ran dual piston air gun, big floor jack and a torque wrench

done in 10 minutes (took longer to wind back the hose and put my tools back)

At my shop we charge $40 to rotate on unless you bought the rims and tires from us then its free. if you have to change over, mount and balance it is $27.50 per wheel for cars, vans, and small SUV's, and $32.50 per wheel for Light Truck tires.

Winter tire season it is usually first come first serve but we usually have you turned around within 2 hours in any case.

Well, I overestimated what Mazda charges to do this. For some reason I thought it was $60, but turns out its only $37. They were able to squeeze me in for tomorrow :D

I definitely recommend north hill Mazda.. They even drive you to work downtown afterwards.
