The young driver of a $430,000 Lamborghini was scandalized when he was handed a $568 ticket.

The hard-done-by West Vancouver 22-year-old apparently couldn't find the dough to pay his car insurance - and then hotly disputed the fine for not having his affairs in order.

"When the police officer stopped the driver, he soon realized that the car was not insured," said Cpl. Robert McDonald, spokesman for the RCMP's Lower Mainland District Traffic Services.

"When the officer gave the driver a $568 fine for not having insurance, the driver actually complained the fine was too much money."

It's not as bad as you think. Obviously I wouldn't have enough details to do this accurately BUT let's assume:

- He's 22 so licensed six years with a spotless record. The premium would only be around $3100 BUT you have to remember that with a car of this value his collision & comprehensive deductibles would be 5% of the vehicle value so that's $21,500!

Now of course if this guy is out driving this car with no insurance it's not likely that he has a nice spotless record so the price will spiral upwards with his vehicular sins but all things considered, it's not that bad (other than the deductible).

Not unlike most young guys in Calgary driving M3's or whatever else that they seriously cant afford.

My guess: Failed a bunch of classes, parents found out and cut off the money supply until they visit but that hasn't happened yet so no money for insurance.

Just because Ft.Mac has hot girls compared to Fox Creek doesn't make it LA of the North. Calgary is no different. There may be 50% girls but this is definitely NOT Cali. A 5 in Cali is a 10 here, just like a 5 here is a 10 in Ft.Mac.

That being said in Vancouver real ballers roll with one of these:

Saw a new Rolls Coupe on Sunday by Robson St rolling with one.

i have a theory... after some keen observations :D

largest concentration of hot girls i've seen in town? sled island block party this summer

largest concentration of hot girls i've seen anywhere? coachella... every year

there for... hot girls follow around festivals. they are nomadic. they dont actually live in any particular region

You can chat up all the Aussies working at the slopes. No you do not have Avalanche phobia. Probably just scared to catch edges and break your wrists.

It'll be hard to learn but I tell you it's so much fun once you get the hang of it.

It may be around $3k a year in Alberta, but this was in Vancouver.

Believe it or not, it would be 20-25k in BC.

If that's true, wouldn't taking a $568 ticket for no insurance be the better deal???
