 so built in oven broke last week... yeah should have bought parts to fix, but there was a double on kijiji that matches the rest of our appliances... (less common size, trail etc said special order)

Anyway, got the old out, 4 wires, ground black white red...

Go to put new in... 7 wires... add blue brown and orange to above.

:dunno: need Sparky advice... can I make this work?

7 wires? What kind of wall oven is it?

Jenn air - I was worried it might need 2 @220v feeds...

Trying to find a model #, but not having luck yet - no plates/tags other than energystar and some Ontario energy efficiency #, its a 24" late 90s vintage double convection.

That is bizarre. A double wall oven uses one 220 connection with a 40 amp breaker. I have never seen or heard of a 7 wire configuration before and I have seen and installed a lot of wall ovens.

Not too sure what to say.

Nice find on the 24" double though. They are pretty hard to find nowadays in Canada... and if you can find them, not cheap.

Can get out of the US though... though I believe they do not meet CSA guidelines.

Yeah, don't remind me, when i saw this I jumped all over it... sears north hill had a replacement in stock, but stainless- all ours are black... and a choke inducing price of course...

I guess I'll crack the back tomorrow? See if there are any labels or tags...

Are the other wires (3 of them) smaller wires? They might be a pigtail.

If it looks like this

it's a pigtail.

Hope that helps :)

No all appear to be 8ga - all multi strand except ground...

Power comes in top right, over to the logic board on left, I see two sets of connections tagged L1 L2? Logic board is jenn-air 205985 but I can't seem to put that to a manual...

ww2780 is a 27" but yeah, i was getting there myself, except it's not tagged with a model number where it should be according to the website...

however going out to re-verify that, I looked at the bottom of the top cover and...

OK, so wtf does this mean?

Edit: Looks like a 3 wire hookup. Red/Brown/Blue = L2, Black/Orange = L1, White=Neutral

What size breaker do you currently have for the oven?

Why must they complicate things so? :banghead:

Installed, mostly hooked up, bit of trim to clean up and pop put the 40 for a 50amp breaker...

Have to make some clearance for the fan motor on the back, sitting about 1.5" from flush... guess I've got a notch to make for clearance...

I apologize if I missed something, the breaker that feeds the oven is 40a? What size are the conductors that feed the oven itself? Generally speaking it's not a real good idea to just pop out a breaker for a larger one.

Had the sparky come by tonight for that and to hand me a 3/4" bx connector, he says its good, just need a new breaker (actually having him do a few things while he's here... gfci breakers and that 50amp and eyeball up my garage sub panel install).
