Trying to get a spare key made up for my car, I know they have a chip inside, but I only want the key cut it so that I can open the doors/trunk. Not interested in getting it programmed.

Don't want to have to go to the dealership for it, can a locksmith duplicate keys like this?

Calgary Lock and Safe in the NE.

They're the only place I found that was able to cut a spare key for my Aristo.

It's gonna be about 50 bucks, so the dealership might be cheaper since they can cut by code instead of trace. Just tell em you only need a key for exterior locks.

check with the dealer. The key and cutting is cheap, they charge for the programming of the chip. When I needed a spare for my mazda, I bought the key from the dealer and they cut it for $15(?). Then I was able to use my 2 existing keys to program it myself.

Just for cutting it might not even be that expensive at the dealer, just specify you don't want it coded

I need some cut for my 03 Dakota. The one guy said it needs to be from the dealer to be able to start the vehicle. Other places can make ones just to open the door.

If you still have a working transponder key, you can easily buy the transponder blanks online and have them cut anywhere that cuts keys. Then you can mate the transponder to the vehicle (using the procedure in your operator manual).

If you try to start the vehicle more than 3 times without a transponder you will need a dealer visit.

Some cars can program new transponder keys themselves. A lot of fords can program a third key if you have two working keys.

In those cases, buying keys off Ebay and getting them cut at any mall kiosk or hardware store works great. That doesn't work for the type of key shown in the OP, but it's a good tip.

The dealer told me 175$ for a basic key with no remote or anything... And I have the original key still still with remote and all.

Where is cheaper ? As the 175 seems very steep

You need to get this:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BRAND-NEW-HONDA-KEYLESS-CLICKER-REMOTE-ENTRY-FLIP-KEY-FOB-SWITCHBLADE-/300677810309?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4601cb4885&vxp=mtr

Doesn't solve your key cutting problem but I just got some of these flip keys for my cars, and they're awesome!! Looking at your dilapidated stock key made me think of the flip keys.

Crowfoot Village Honda cut mine for free. I walked into their service department and asked if they could cut a copy of my key(I gave them a blank), and the service guy took 5 minutes and said no charge.

Check out the ebay link I gave earlier. They can program themselves if you have the original keys.
