Only 11.5 million? Well let me grab my checkbook then.

Wouldn't a house like that be easy to sell by owner and not pay crazy Realtor fees? I would think anyone looking for property like that would come to you without you having to do much work.

Purple hot tub water?

I'll take my 11 million elsewhere.

Not sure if the Shaw's own that one but one of them did build a pool house right by Elbow River with their house side by side. I guess I know where my cable payment went. The rumour is that the owner is not the friendliest people to work with neither lol.

That is really nice. How much does the usual crescent heights house go for?

I am pretty sure this house previously sold for 7.4 milllion ?

Too close to the dangerous NE, garage parking for only three cars? And why would I want to look at the "view" of downtown Calgary? Oh right, Master of the Universe Complex. Swing and a miss, for that money I could do better. If it is an ex Shaw home, double no thanks.

It holds 6 cars (3 lifts) and Calgary's skyline is beautiful. You're weird if you think otherwise.

Pretty sure it's Jim shaw. I remember him applying to extend his yard onto part of the greenspace of McHugh bluff.

Mehhh.

11.5 Million? Could get a baller condo right downtown, and build the same house on an acreage in Watervalley area for the weekends.

That'd be my preference anyways.

Not my favourite house on that street, especially without the additional land they failed to annex from McHugh Bluff Park. Still, pretty darn nice.
Sadly, it's slightly out of my price range.

Not quite as baller, but I think 410 Crescent Road NW is one of the nicest houses in that area.

My bro lives around there, but a couple blocks back from the bluff. Great neighbourhood, and some interesting options options under 1 million bucks.

For just under 2 million, I like 532 ALEXANDER CR NW. ( MLS®: C3542967 )

Who wants to deal with lifts.... to pedestrian for real wealth. You've not been anywhere if you think Calgary has a nice skyline, it looks like Brooks with fewer cows.

Have to agree that is definitely one of my favorites as well. I used to hang out with a bunch of guys in Rosedale and there are a lot of nice homes, even moreso on the inside.

Dick Haskayne lives beside that house. A friend and I were hanging out on her front lawn (one street back from the hill) drinking beers in our lawn chairs with the sprinkler on  he and his wife cracked some jokes about wanting to join us, good people.

Brinkhaus Jeweller's owner/family lives up on the hill too. Norbert is hilarious.

I know when we did the granite in this house it was being built for a Asian guy, Too bad Shaw is in there now and trying to rape a new owner.

Nice house for sure, but 11.5 mill? No thanks. Half that or about 7k, okay I can see that. You can get some uber pimping mansions in the states for 11.5 or there abouts.

Mhm, it used to be owned by an asian guy that went to my church.

He sold the house when he left the country though.

Made quite a profit on that house, I guess Shaw is trying to do the same.

The asian guys kids were ballllin. Little 2 year olds rocking full burberry... :bigpimp:

LOL.
Calgary has one of, if not the nicest and largest skylines for a city of it size.

Oh I've been plenty of places. Lets look at some other skylines of 1 million person metro areas or bigger:

Quito, Ecuador 3.3mil:

Kunming, China 3mil:

Kansas City, MO 2mil:

Cleveland, OH 2mil:

Now lets look at some 1 mil metro areas in the US for a fair comparison:

Hartford, CT 1.2mil:

Salt Lake City, UT 1.1 Mil:

Buffalo, NY 1.1mil:

Birmingham, AL 1.1 Mil:

Fresno, CA 942K:

Yup, we win.

Vancouver has 600k people and has a way nicer skyline than we do. San Fran, 800k population. You're just cherry picking shitty places haha.

edit - Las Vegas, 600k population. Right, our skyline is better haha.

I said right in my post METRO areas. Vancouver is not a 600k person metro area.

London, UK is ~7000 people if you want to play it that way.

I cherry picked some shitty 3mil places that came to mind, but the rest are most of the US metro areas that are around 1.1mil. You won't find anything better than Calgary until you hit 3 mil... except Vegas if you're into that. I don't find that a nice skyline, I just find it impressive.

How about show me an example of a ~1 million metro area with a nicer skyline?

Calgary skyline isn't the most amazing in North America but it's far from terrible!

I drive down Center street everyday evening/night etc. and I gotta say our Skyline is quite nice.

Yea perhaps bright lights is over rated to some. I wouldn't need a space that size but it would be cool to have that view.

Outside of Dubai and Abu Dabi (whose massive skyscrapers sit mostly empty) I can't think of a city that is near our size (metro) that can compare to us. People here tend to not realize how spoiled we are when it comes to our skyline.

Go to some of the skyscraper forums and you'll see. They consider EDMONTONS downtown as an impressive skyline for its size and when you compare it to the US metros above, then its hard to argue against that.

Our downtown is more comparable to a city of 2.5-4.5 million people.

Lol, that place is just down the street, it has been on the Market for a loooong time. IMO it is a bit large, but fun fact about 4a st. It was designed by William reader to have a denser tree canopy, so it looks like you are in a large green tunnel during summer. The downside is that you get a shit ton more aphids so parking outside is a bitch
