I'm trying to setup a descent sound system in my 1994 Nissan Pathfinder. I like lots of base and I've been reading about different subs and system combinations.

Can anyone help me out as to what is the best way to set it up without going overboard on pricing. I don't have a lot of $$$. But will pay for a nice sound.

Any ideas?

if you ad an amp, you go overboard on pricing, i have foud that to be the most expensive componant by far

If you want nice sound it's definitely not going to be cheap. You're going to have to go sub, amp, and deck. If your stock deck doesn't have preouts (I can almost guarantee that it won't), you'll need a low level converter and that'll give a poor quality signal. So you have to get a new deck. You want a deck with high voltage preouts like 4V or 5V.

You also want a decent sized amp for your sub. Try to match up the RMS voltages (not the peak voltages) when buying your amp and sub. Beware that underpowering your sub can burn out your voice coils.
