Trying install windows 7 on my new SSD and it keeps saying the product code is invalid. So I've either written it down wrong from my email ages ago and something else is up. Is it possible to purchase a product key anywhere instead of a new DVD/key at $140 bucks? I have a DVD but I bought it from an internet company and the stupid sticker doesn't have the key on it, but rather in the order email. Now that I can't access my university account, it's long gone.

I want a legitimate copy, not something from a key gen.

I went on Shopbot and for some reason, the top 3 are way cheaper than the others. Anyone know why this is?

Do you still have that windows installed on a harddrive? Or did you already format the one it was installed on previously?

There is software out there that will get you your product key (freeware). Also I believe if you call Microsoft you may be able to get a discounted product key.

If you can't find the key I know how to activate it without one. Let me know if you need a hand.

Can't you just leave the key blank for install, then worry about it for the next 30 days? :whocares:

Go to Best Buy, flip a laptop over and get the key?:dunno:

The last SSD was IPR'd and Memory Express has it, starting from scratch. I'll try chatting with Microsoft and see if they can do anything, otherwise to ME it is :(

Edit: Phoned Microsoft and got a new key. Needed some disc information and $42 bucks but it works.
