My buddy is putting up his garage and he has got it house wrapped on the outside and insulated on all the walls but only vapor barriered this one wall last week. Today we found moisture between the vapor barrier and insulation. What could be causing this? I'm thinking because of the big fluctuation in temperature over the past week, any other ideas?

Thanks

May be the melted snow found a way into the wall. When you mentioned wrapped on the outside, do you mean the outside is airtight?

Condensation usually requires moisture and cold surface. Not sure about the cold surface but for sure you got moisture so you have to find it one way or another.

Wrapped on the outside with that white house wrap stuff that goes on before the siding, I don't think it's snow the top 2x4 (not vinyl wrapped) is dry and it is level with the soffit

How's the bottom constructed? Any chance of moisture getting in from underneath? It's a detached garage right? Very interesting, like to find out why out of curiosity.

There could have been moisture in the wall before he vapour barriered it. Since both sides are “air tight” it will have no place to go.
