Ran into a odd issue today half the items in my freezer are thawed while others are still frozen including the ice in the ice maker. I do notice that there is quite a bit of ice build up on the back wall of my freezer. Any input would be appreciated

Any airflow from the back of the freezer? Fan noise? If you can hear the fan but there is no air, then it sounds like the evap coil froze up. The defrost heater may have failed or the defrost timer crapped out. There will be a few large screws that can be removed from the freezer compartment to gain access to the evaporator fan motor and you can check for ice buildup.

Feel a bit of air flowing from these vents

Is the condenser air-cooled? (fan circulating air under the refrigerator) When is the last time it was cleaned?
If your condenser is clean then that's about as far as I can diagnose over the internet.
