How much for a car hitch, and where is good?

Seeing how much a class 1 hitch and all the wiring would be and where are some recommended places to go? This would be for a car which I haven't got yet, just needs to be able to pull the dirtbike or quad on a tiny trailer...

if you're only pulling a few hundred lbs class 1 is way overkill, it all depends on the car, and it's towing capacity as to what class hitch will even be manufactured for it.


I found the cheapest was to buy on ebay and install it myself, mine was pretty easy, took me about an hour, just had to remove the bumper skin and bolt it in to holes already in the car from the manufacturer.

How did you get the signal lights and brake lights to work? I wouldn't know how to wire that part in.

Only quote i got back was $350 including hitch , install and wiring with plug. Doesn't seem too bad

I installed my own hitch on a 95 dakota super easy and it came with the harness tooi belive i paid 150$ for it in 2006 at raven truck accesories

I paid $300 for my class one on a Mazda 3. I would expect around the same across the city.

Yeah i got mine on ebay with wiring for $150...

if you got quoted $350, thants $200 for install... seems alright, especially if you're not comfortable with the install yourself.

I don't know what car yet, whichever I get will pull the bikes sometimes.

Hitchshop on 42nd. Very easy to deal with, fast, super friendly and professional. I've used them countless times, even to do things as basic as replacing trailer lights. They always squeeze me in and do a great job.

I once had a performance shop do $19000 worth of worth to my truck, including a tow package. One day I was driving down a super bumpy road and it collapsed right where it's attached on your bumper bending my frame (sub frame? maybe) but the bolts attached to the frame didn't give out. Long story short, it damaged my truck and trailer and because I didn't do the install and the trailer was WAYYYYY below what my rating was I had someone to go cover the cost of all damages. If you install by yourself (it's super easy) and something goes wrong then you're in a whole world of shit. Thank god there wasn't anyone driving behind me.
