Who's been to Uruguay and Argentina?

I am possibly heading down there for a month in January with my dad.

For those who have been, what are some of the things I should go do and see? What are some of the things or places to pass on?

I am hoping we will be spending at least a few weeks at Punta del Este.

All tips and recomendations are appreciated

Ive been to both... spent 2 weeks in Argentina (Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and some small German town) then 4 days in Punta del Este. While there is lots to see in Ar. PdL is a smaller vacation town. Basically where the wealthy South Americans go for holiday.. that means beach, drinks and going out. There is a Casino if thats your thing too.

One thing.. if girls are nice to you, they are mostly likely hookers. Granted this was a few years back, but no matter what bar/pub you went to, there was a slew of girls going around chatting everyone up. We found out later thats what they were doing. (They couldnt speak english, our spanish sucked)
