Well , I'm gonna kick this one off with one of my new favorites:

Kim Mitchell, Canadian rocker from the 80's. Has many more good songs besides his biggest hit "Patio Lanterns."

Amazing guitarist and song writer. Reminds me a little bit of Eddie Van Halen, but definitely with a style all and of its own. A little Country flavor.

Total hockey arena music :D

Post up whatever artist from whatever genre. fbnVJvbcgqM

Xavier Rudd - underrated in North America, huge in South Africa though.

Andre 3000 - probably one of the most lyrically gifted rappers of all time.

Good thread idea. Personally I think Lindsey Buckingham is seriously underrated. His greatest gift to Fleetwood mac was molding the distinctive sounds from Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, and Tusk Albums - but definitely a criminally underrated guitar player. A bit unique in that he plays a traditional Travis pick exclusively.

Billy Idol, specifically Steve Stevens, one of rocks greatest yet unrecognized guitarists.

Some great posts in this thread guys  & I agree on Stevie Stevens, he made Billy's songs great with his playing!

Trey Anastasio. I never seem him mentioned in discussions about the greatest guitarists ever, but he's up there. His technical and improv capabilities are top notch.

Phil Lesh. Greatest bassist ever if you ask me. Truly uses the bass as a lead instrument.

I will post up another Canadian... Pete Lesperance from Harem Scarem, he just toured with Michelle Wright.

Can't seem to get the video on her properly...lack of caffeine this morning isn't helping.

Primus is fairly gimmicky, but Les' playing is still unreal.

I hear there's this skrillex dude who's great, but doesn't get any attention....

But seriously, anyone who's into slowstep or ambient dnb needs to check out a guy called "The Widdler", he's incredibly talented, but nobody outside of dubstep.fm seems to have ever heard of the guy.

Most of this thread consists of highly recognized musicians/acts that get lots of radioplay, how are they under rated?

i took this as what the general public see's/hears not critics.

Most people who aren't rap/hip hop fans know Andre from songs like "Hey ya", "Roses" etc and a few Outkast songs that were radio friendly and probably have no clue how talented he truly is.

No man, he be truthin'!

There's a couple local guys from here that play phenomenally well, the most notable being Jordan Cook. He's had lots of exposure over the years but god damn, you see that guy play live and it can make your jaw drop.
