While the engine specs, headlights and new tech are impressive, I doubt this fwd baised vanilla bland sedan will pull Acura out of its sales slide.

looks like it will retain it's spot on the top 10 worst selling cars list.

So basically Acura's answer to a question that nobody asked?

you'd think they've learned their lesson with the RL... guess not.

I just read that 2013 will be the last year for the ZDX crossover due to slow sales. I think Acura needs another car like the RSX, they just don't seem to do that well in the luxury market.

Does the Infiniti M sell much? I think I can count the number of flagship Japanese luxury sedans I've seen in the last 2 years on one hand.

Acura claims they had a stellar year during the unveil, highest sales since 2008. Didn't they tank in 2008? The only thing I liked about the car was the LED lights. That seems to be the highlight of every manufacturer this year, everyone is making unique aggressive designs.

The base price in the states is quite low, only $40k.

Pretty Vanilla car though outside of the headlights.

Oh, good. More new technology to blind the shit out of me. At least there won't be too many on the road i guess? :dunno:

Insect compound eyes while unique, they look a bit weird to me. The overall styling is still a bit bland without much characters.

So completely bland. Honda, why do you do this...:banghead:

Honestly, if they slapped on the grill from the early previous gen RL' this would be a good looking ride.

I think the target for this car is for the understated individual who values reliability and having nice things while remaining under the radar. Ie. A Volvo S80 owner, perhaps a Genesis owner.

I don't agree with this obviously, I would love to see Honda come up with some inspirational cars such as of those of the past, but it seems like they are done dick measuring with BMW, Merc, Audi.

Acura is great as answering questions that nobody has asked.

looks like an older Buick.

Way to go Acura, lets take a shape of a 10 y/o GM car and slap and badge on it.

LOL @ the taillights... They tried way too hard on that.

Poor Acura.

Acura says it's confirmed and coming. They're milking the NSX prototype to show the brand as exciting. NSX must've been mentioned 3 or 4 times during the RLX unveiling. Pretty funny.

Hearsay told me that the production model is being unveiled this January in Detroit but it seems like there's a distinct lack of hype for that to be true. I guess we'll see in a few weeks.

It is sad to see that this car looks so plain. I'm probably one of very few people who loved the current RL. It was quiet, smooth and not super flashy.

They decided to roll out this plain jane drivetrain for RLX. Claiming that hybrid AWD is not ready.

I think they don't want to debut the system with RL and instead debut it on the NSX then bring it to RLX.

Grand scheme of things, that seems smarter.

However, in its current form, this RLX seems so bland, it's almost just a stretched Accord for someone who feels they're too rich for an Accord, but wants one anyways.

I think for the AWD hybrid to be competitive in its segment, it has to undercut the A6 (hell, maybe even the A4) as well as any of the Infinitis on price, but we already know that's not going to happen.

Apparently they learned nothing form the RL (which still looked better, IMO).

Very low volume car for sure. Target market....maybe Buick and Volvo owners? Not sure. Seems like a strange vehicle.

Oh I totally agree. But even Buick and Volvo are making exciting cars now! (seriously, manual turbocharged Buick???! Not since the GNX, and now Buick has two models like that!)

You can get both the Regal and Verano in manual with a turbo now :)

Yet another Acura that looks better in person.

As far as it's purpose, I don't see the confusion: it's Acura's big, most luxurious class sedan like the Lexus LS, BMW 5 (7?), Audi ?? (they've got too many big sedans), and etc. Except unlike it's competitors the RL model hasn't had the success Acura has hoped, maybe this one will get the model back on track.

Absolutely!

(Ergo why I said Buick has two models with a 6 speed and turbo)

Shocking how things change....I blame the cultural shift away from tuning and cars in Japan for Honda's rather lame offerings for the last decade or so.

Curious about the Sport Hybrid model coming out later this year.

I'm interested to see the new SH-AWD Acura's been working on, and being in a 7 speed dual-clutch tranny and 370 hp, shouldn't be a slouch either.

Edit: Haha gpomp beat me to it.
