Can anyone recommend a home-based accountant or bookkeeper to help with a very small business?

Went to an accounting firm this week and was quoted almost $2000 to help with Alberta incorporation, written articles, shareholder agreements, setup directors, etc and $4000ish for the year's taxes and setting up salary for myself, deductions, etc.

Those might be good or standard rates but I just can't afford them, sadly we are just getting off the ground and can't even pay ourselves much yet.

I'm thinking maybe instead of going to a bigger firm with their overhead I can find someone who works at home or on the side to do better. Any recommendations? Anyone know someone like this? Is it crazy for me to think I can find help for less money?

I also don't want to do it all myself, actually have been doing this myself so far and think it's been going kind of shitty, need real help.

I pay my book keeper $30/hr and my corporate taxes are done by someone else for $1000-1500(IT consultant with a few clients). PM me if you want names and numbers.

Just remember you usually get what you pay for and cutting corners during the start for tax planning and share structure can bite you in the butt later on...
