well i was just wondering the average read/write speed and rpm's if they are decent on this one because i dont know what the general speeds are...

rpm? hehe

I don't know about buying no name brand when it comes to electronics... especially memory.

It is usually worth spending cash for good stuff.

I use Rob Galbraith's CF performance database when choosing CF cards. Since different cards perform differently depending on the camera they are used with, it is quite helpful:

Just get two 1 gig CF cards. I use Lexar and have had zero problems. I prefer flash memory over micro drives.

well my issue is that this 2.2gb drive is much cheaper than 2 1gb drives..

Don't cheap out and get a no name memory card. Go with a good brand, like lexar or something.

I don't know whether you're an idiot because you believe that or because you're trying to sound like you know what you're talking about.

Why do you need such a huge memory card? Just get a smaller card and dump your pictures onto your computer each day as you take them...

BAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHHHHAHHAAHAAHAHAHHAHAAHHA

No they are not "mini" hard drives. It is flash memory, it uses memory chips vs a platter.

http://www.compactflash.org/faqs/faq.htm#What_is

CompactFlash storage products are solid state, meaning they contain no moving parts, and provide users with much greater protection of their data than conventional magnetic disk drives. They are five to ten times more rugged and reliable than disk drives including those found in PC Card Type III products. CF cards consume only five percent of the power required by small disk drives.

The Microdrive cards are like the ones pictured.

and your point? my point is that there are some out there that are like mini hdd's so they should do some research before they decide to be pricks.

I'm not being a prick, they aren't called Compact Flash. They are CF+ data storage cards (Microdrives).

Flash = nonvolatile memory.

and do they not work in compact flash drives?

i wasn't refering to you as the prick, but the other 2

so then would those be slower than a compact flash card?? faster? or comprable?

Having two cards is handy because if one should ever fail, you can swap in the second one and keep shooting.

You also need to consider that micro drives are more susceptible to g-shock and not as robust as flash memory.

They are compatible with CF Type II cards, and in general slower, although depending on the specs, in some cases faster than Flash type cards.

t3rry, most of us see a distinction between CF and Microdrive (though a Microdrive is considered a type of CF)

I appologize for sounding like a rude prick, I just got a good laugh because I did see someone who had broken their CF card and I can assure you that there was no platter inside.

I have had problem with no name brand cards failing on me, and loosing all photos. Sucks.
Stick with big names.
