Very nice! Hood or not, I can see that realstone around the cooktop becoming a bit of a greasetrap though!

Does anyone know what type of hardwood that is on the kitchen floor?

It's one half of a duplex in Kensington. Listing price is $1.18 mil. It's "nice", but not a huge difference between it and your $500,000 "spec" home from one of the big builders. The basement is finished. Wall to Wall "built-ins" for a home theatre. A nice "loft" on the third floor that is above all your neighbours, with a nice view. Great for an office, and has another bathroom there. Few extras, like open spiral staircase, and the upper end tile (all stone, natural materials, no porcelain or ceramic). The biggest price comes from the location. Almost any duplex in the "hot" new communities is going for close to a mil (Bridgeland, Marda Loop, Kensington, etc).

The builder did all the design and decorating work.
Yes I do the stone (although my son did that kitchen as well as the fireplace)

I'm not a big fan of the kitchen design. Feels quite "cramped" when working over the stove with those two stone pillars right beside you. Also, I think the builder tried to do "too much". You have SIX different textures all within a few square feet. (tile, stone, granite, stainless steel, dark wood, light wood). Just a little "busy" if you ask me. But the overall look is "opulent" I guess. Shows nice, but I wouldn't want my own kitchen like that.

Is the lady of the house good looking? I am thinking of putting an offer down for the place across the back alley from that bathroom.... :D

Also is it me, or is that TV WAY too high.

Awesome work on the tile

Understood. My "very nice" was somewhat limited to the craftmanship! I personally am a fan of very simple/understated design schemes, I like the more sterile and monochromatic styles.

Like the work but not crazy about the design and finish selections. Rather busy looking with all the different textures and patterns. Monochromatic color schemes are harder to pull off than people think. You need to be bang on with the hues and value and then play with the saturation and intensity.

The marble countertops do not wortk well with what they have going on in the rest of the space. Nice quality of work though.

Beautiful! I'm always a little skeptical about dark cabinets but with the light stonework/countertop you nailed it, there's a fine line between rustic and depressing!

Looks amazing Dave! Very nice!

Nice appliance package, save for that Kitchenaid fridge. I would have opted for the 72" tall model in the same brand to get the hidden hinge caps, close off some of that exposed gap and compliment the tall ceiling. That fridge looks short and stubby in there.

Looks great, especially the kitchen!

Curious though, what's up with the fireplace/TV? Were they not able to find a piece wide enough to cover the whole area? I see you did your best to match it but it really throws off how nice that stone is. Maybe I'm missing something.

craftsmanship looks great, but IMHO i think the designer needs to go back to school and learn a little more about colors and keeping everything from looking too busy. The stone around the stove, looks very weird in my eyes, the hardwoods to the cabinet color looks like ass imo, just looks like a very nonfunctional kitchen to me, where is the workspace by the stove to put a bowl for your pancake batter even? to me it seems like you would be very crowded in the kitchen, especially if you had more than one person in there with you. Just saying this one more time, not hating on your work at all, you get told what to do and get paid to do it, but the designer on the other hand needs a better eye, unless the customer was dead set on these colors/design/cabinet layout, but i do think you could have made the kitchen much nicer. Bathrooms look cool, i love the shower, just the color scheme is out a little, i have been doing renos now for some years and have seem my fair share of beauty houses, and some terrible ones, and most the time when it turns out bad its when the customer is a snob and wont listen to the designer or decorator at all. Great tile work though!!!
