I am looking to buy 2 new gaming pc's. I got some pricing on a machine here in Med Hat, but the more I read the more it seems like the wrong build especially the processor. So I am looking to spend $1000 for each machine with monitor / oper sys and some warranty. Below is the build I was quoted with price. I am hoping some of the guys with experience building these can help me out with possibly a better set of options. My last PC had a 2500k and I was happy with it, never onwed a AMD machine.

I really have no clue when it comes to matching a mobo with a processor, and what works best with what. I would like a machine with a Raptor HD or small SSD (for OS) + 500gb secondary. As for the monitor something around 22" like the one they quoted.

Here is what was offered:

Thermaltake V4 case

Asus M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ Motherboard

AMD FX-4100 3.6ghz processor (heard the 2500k is miles better than this)

Corsair 8GB Vengeance blue ram

WD 1TB Caviar Black

Cheapo LIte-on DVDRW

Windows 7 64bit home premium

Thermaltake TR2 600W

Asus GTX 660ti (TI-DC2-2GD5) or Radeon 7870

Asus VE228H 1920x1080 monitor w/ speakers

All this was $2,372 tax in for both machines, OS installed and 3 years in house warranty.

I would use them for gaming mostly, like the upcoming EOS, FFXIV and maybe WoW , GW2

Any suggestions?

AMD cpu and Gaming machine are 2 things that do not go together. Also, personal preference but I can't stand AMD (ati) vid card driver support anymore.

The new FX line isn't bad when gaming, especially when you factor in the price disparity between it and Intel.
