Can you guys give me some info on some possible project cars:

mid-late 80s BMW 635csi: What is the aftermarket for this? I suspect it'll be the most expensive to do up. what are possible engine swaps?

RA65 (82-85 Toyota Celica GTS) with 7M-GTE engine. Anyone know if there are easier engine swaps? what difficulties there might be?

87-89 GTi 16V. What are tuning options for this? Possible engine swaps?

Pontiac Fiero GT. What do these cars handle like? I know you can get V8 conversion kits for them, probably for a 350 small block. An eventual exotic body conversion would be sweet.

You're best bet would be the GTi or the Fiero. There is little support for the 635, as it is one of the rarest BMW's of the 1980s.

Definately go for the VW GTI :)

Alot of people with that year of car have put VR6 engines into them.. and they really fly being amazingly light and sitting at 174hp stock.

Plus.. the Vr6 engine has been around for many years and its easy to find a good-condition used one.. compared to the rare find of the 1.8t.

Definately GTI!!!!

Nissan S13 240sx 89-94 or a Ae86 corolla GTS 85-87. Both rear wheel drive with lots of aftermarket support.

The GTI is the Best Choice! Just keep the Stock 16v engine and Turbo it!:D

Turboed 2.0L 16V ran 14.1 at race city the other night on street tires, pretty sweet.

pluss they are so light and have heaps of aftermarket support!

A guy dropped a Audi 1.8T motor into his 84GTI and ran low 13's

Entire swap including every thing he needed was 10 grand. The entire car including that, as well as rollcage, brand new paint and interior all done was 15 grand.

lot a lot of aftermarket support for the 635's. You could restore it to spec and run with it from there but cost would be very high.

You could aways drop a newer M3 engine in with a Turbo and it would kick something serious. But then you'd be best to check the tranny and the clutch to see if it will accept all that power without burning out.

Definitely would rank high on my list of projects if I had the $$ but I'm biased. ;)

yeh, I don't think the 635 is a very good idea... maybe if i did have the money.

The GTi sounds good. The only way I'll drive a front drive car is if it weighs practically nothing. Also, how bout the scirocco 16V? A little hard to find, but how would they compare to the GTi?

I still like the Idea of the RA65. Rear drive back then. Could I do a swap with a supra turbo? How bout the AE86? I guess they're quite similar to the RA65.

of course, these are the import options. Just comparing, but my dream of the 5.0 ranger is still way out in front.
