HP g6 amd freezing

Hoping someone can help me out. I got a free hp pavilion g6 with windows 8 from Telus. It started out fine but now is totally unresponsive and freezes when I use it. I thought it was related to chrome as others have had this issue but explorer freezes it too. Even working in settings etc and not on the net kills it. Any tips? Tried a virus scan and nothing

Call Telus and complain your free laptop does not work. Maybe they will send a new one.
