Just moved into a new place with a washer and I'm pretty sure I just messed it up! Put in a bath mat and I think all the cotton came off and clogged it up. Anyone have any ideas? Called Totem Appliances and 100 bux just to come out to diagnose...wow! That doesn't include anything other than looking at it

My neighbor fixes these things. I can ask him if he'd take a look for you.

You can get one on Kijiji for prolly less than that. Mine shit the bed last year and my landlord got one for $70, works fine. Also lots of desperados on Kijiji that'll pick up your old one for free.

What kind of washing machine is it?

If front loader
I would take of panel off at the bottom(be sure the drum does not contain water). There should be like a drain plug. It's where all the smallest little crap gets trap when the machine drain the water. I had this problem and I found my little ones sock trap there. I clean it out and put the plug back in and the machine worked again

Try that

A little info on type of washer would go a long ways here.

Like the poster above said, check the filter. It collects change, lint, stuff like that.

If you google your washer model number and put "manual" behind the search you can normally find your owner's manual that way...it has typical disconnection diagrams and all sorts of service things in it. I was able to diagnose a faulty pump motor in my old bosch and found the part number for it in the manual.

I've ordered a few parts from http://www.repairclinic.com/, shipping has been really fast and prices were very good

Try that I gotta do this, my Kenmore washer is collecting things. Wife ran a cleaning cycle on the washer, and it was empty when it started, but had two kids socks in it by the end. Wonder what the hell elese is stuck down there. Maybe that's where my youth went . . . .

Well, went online and I guess it's not an uncommon problem! Found a site that helped me fix this thing on my own!

Was a bit of a bitch but all in all, wasn't bad at all. It was the big rubber collector thing at the bottom that had a filter and that thing was CLOGGED! Cleared it out and I found a loonie! Score!!! Put it back together and the washer works like a dream.

I guess the internet is good for other things other than porn! Who would have known!!!:dunno:
