It's not winter. (Notice the green deciduous trees.) That's the foam that the fire department uses to extinguish the fire, not snow. If there were snow around a burning car, wouldn't it have melted?

The only thing I thought is that if they really did leave the road at ~250km/hr, there's a good chance they were both dead (or permanently unconscious) long before the fire got to them.
