I've had this sore throat for almost a month. Not too much coughing and don't seem to have other flu or cold symptoms. Of late I do notice some back, neck, and headache. Have on and off used oregano oil, lemon&garlic combo, gargle with salt etc. It's a pain as quite often I end up like 3:30 am. I do try to drink a lot of water. Don't feel like going to doctor to wait 2 hours and end up with antibiotics though. Thoughts on what it might be ?

Go see a doc. I know it sucks, but do it. I had something similar, never went to the doctor. A month later I was in hospital with a really rare infection. Lost 15lbs in 10 days.

With an URTI it could really be anything. The length of your infection tells me that probably its not going to "go away" on its own.

Spending any time where there is mold?

or sleeping somewhere where its cold?

(or possibly too hot?)

Excessive snoring also can cause this sore throat... that you've got.

do you smoke ?

there's no way i would even have a sore throat for a month without going to the doctor.....

I don't think ive had a sore throat that lasted more then 8 days. This was when i was in Aruba and didn't want to go to the doctor.

Turned out it was Strep Throat.

no my sore throats last a day at max, once i feel a tingle i do i salt water gurgle.

Go to the doctor and stop wasting time on beyond.

Yeah, the last bad sore throat I had was strep throat. Got so bad at the end that I couldn't drink a glass of water without pain. The meds from the Dr. fixed me up in about three days.

Last time I had strep my throat was more sore and within a few days my body were full of red dots (I have auto immune disease). I waited at the walk in doctor for 2 hours and after seeing him for 45 seconds he asked me what kind of anti biotics did I want :dunno:

I will give in 3-4 days and try all the home remedies mentioned. If still persist then I shall go and hope I dont get more antibiotics . Not a fan of the stuff.;)

Two table spoons of apple cider vinegar 3 times a day.
Kills the germs in the back of your throat.I thought it was a joke but in 2 days my sorethroat was gone.(Make sure your always close to the toilet because that stuff will clean you out)

If it's strep you need to get it treated. It's one of those common things that people don't give much thought to because antibiotics have made us forget about the horrible stuff that can happen. It hurts like hell so that you get it treated before it spreads to your brain.

One of the fitness magazines i have say that throat ulcers can be caused by vigorous teeth brushing and/or stress. Ive never had a throat ulcer so it dont know what the symptoms are but maybe something worth asking your doctor about.

I had a similar thing last year. I went to the doctor, He gave me pills, They didn't work. I went to another doctor, he gave me different pills, they also did not work. 1 month and a week of terrible terrible pain, hospital gave me a pill that was like 2000 mg of antibiotics and 10 smaller ones, cleared up in 3 days. That was the worst month of my life

Two hour wait for the doctor? book an appointment
Do you smoke?
Maybe acid reflux?
My guess is chlorine exposure or a respiratory tract infection.

OP, my doctor is accepting new patients. Located in the NW. No wait times as you have an appointment booked. PM me if you want the info.

Alan, dude you have a viral infection. Anti biotics wont help .... either see a specialist (ear nose and throat) or wait it out assuming it doesent get worse.
