I go to World Health Bay and World Health Richmond.

I far more prefer Richmond location over the Bay location as the Bay is just stupid crowded and small for the amount of people.

Richmond is nice as its spread out and done nicely.

Depends on the day, M-Thur differs, but generally not too busy that you would have to wait for equipment. I generally go 9-10ish and there are only a handful of people there. Fridays is dead from about 6 onward. Weekends are not that bad either if you go mid afternoonish to evening.

I wouldn't say that anytime fitness is worth paying for, minus the easy commute for people that live close. The equipment is average and doesn't have a lot of the other equipment most other gyms have. I did, however, see sticky notes in some equipment being for sale so maybe he's upgrading!

Agree about Anytime Fitness. It is convenient and u can go anytime. When I first moved into the area I went but the one rack is always used by these two guys haul big DL, squats.

Well it is only $40, I thought goodlife was like 55 and doesn't have the same hours. I saw the for sales though, I hope the squat rack isn't going away, don't know what he would replace it with

I go there because its right along the way home. If your only looking for a basic gym it has what you need. When I'm there at 4pm it isn't busy at all. Kinda wondering what he is replacing what is for sale....how does one upgrade an inclining bench?

Well lets hope so instead of something weird. I don't like that one that is all one piece except for bench, regular rack is good for everything.

He might be getting just new benches. I think 1 eliptical went away as there were 3 new spin bikes taking the old 2 away.

I'm the Regional Fitness Manager for Anytime Fitness downtown Calgary (Beltline and Stephen Ave location)...I cannot speak for the ones in the NW or Elbow as they are independently owned and operated.

If anyone has any questions or wants to try the Beltline gym (1 st and 13 ave sw) or is interested in the new Stephen Ave location coming in May feel free to message me.

Cheers,

Rob

Northland is 100% a goodlife. Also no longer 24hrs.
http://www.goodlifefitness.com/ClubDetails.aspx?ClubNo=250

NorthGATE may still be golds. Not sure.

also, never go to eau claire goodlife @ open. The girl who opens is late 90+% of the time. Sometimes 1-2 hours late.

A question for people that go to Anytime Fitness @ Creekside:

Are there a lot of free weight benches and free weight barbell benches? How many squat racks are there? Is/are there a preacher curl bench?

I'm currently in my last semester at the U of C so I'm trying to look for a gym with a good free weight area with a decent number of benches (so I don't to wait for one if it's busy). I've been to Goodlife Fitness at Beacon Hill a couple years ago when they opened but I didn't really like it. They only had like 5-10 benches at the free weight area and they were pretty much taken the whole time I was there. There were also too many machines and not free weight stuff.

I'm also looking for other recommendations for gyms to go to :). I live in the NW so location isn't really an issue unless it's in the far south or something.

A lot of workouts are done up north since I "work at site". :D

Otherwise Peak Fitness has my business in Red Deer and when I'm down around Calgary which I find myself often enough on days off, I hit up Stevelou's basement of torture haha.

Just use the U of C gym, you get a free membership and the equipment is pretty decent? Also the eye candy is awesome!

Northgate was the only Golds that didn't change.

I'm at WOW in Marlborough, cheap enough to keep on the side as I work out primarily outdoors now, pumping weight isn't as cool as it used to be.
