If fuel economy is important to you 335d, if you want something that you can easily make very quick then 335 and will be an easy sell in the future then 335. :)

I would go with the 2010 just because its facelifted (LCI).

335i comes in manual, no manual for 335d but you get a shitton of torque.

Mileage is a bit high on both but I would go with the newer 335D.

Those are some pretty high KM cars, I hope you're getting a wicked deal.

If you chip the 335i, doesn't it get similar torque to the diesel?

335D all the way

Both are a blast to drive.. the only thing I sort of dislike about the diesel is the 5 speed auto transmission, although it is well mated to the engine.

If I were in your position I would choose the diesel, it's more rare than the 335i too and the stock rims are sweet.

I'd say better aftermarket support and DIY's for 335i engine, BUT you'd be crazy to get a high KM 335i or 335d in general

These KM's are too high and I would not touch it without factory warranty or Certified Pre-Owned BMW warranty

Well the 335i will cost me about $10000

The 335D will cost me $15500

So i figured they were decently priced for non rebuilt cars with good histories but yeah some higher KM

Diesel...

I've owned a few diesel cars (VW's) but nothing with a decent sized motor.

Something like a 335 with a good sized diesel would be awesome, only thing is buying something used I would probably stay away from diesel. If the previous owner was a diesel nut than it probably is okay, but most North Americans don't know how to take care of a diesel and if you don't let it warm up properly the bills will get out of control.

That being said if you take care of it they last forever. I had a Passat TDI that had over 650,000kms with no maintenance other than brakes and tires that ran like new until my cousin borrowed it and hit a guard rail with it.

I used to fill up in Calgary and drive to Vancouver and still have a 1/4 tank in that car. Only vehicle I ever ran out of fuel in. You would re-fuel it every 5 or 6 weeks so I stopped even looking at the gauge. :D

For that price, buy both and resell them. Shouldnt have a problem making a quick buck.

I work in the car industry and get decent pricing on some units when they are wholesaled

I had a Dinan stage one 335xi for a while and I loved it. With Hankook winters it was a snowplow.

The oil burner is a way cool car though -- the only concern is that maintenance on the diesel is likely quite a bit higher.

Haha delco, buy that 335i, and sell it to me :)
Serious inquiry.

Both cars are clean and in great condition no damage, excessive wear and tear try are both clean

Anyway I think I'm gonna get the 335i it's gonna be a little more project orientated which is what I'm looking for

Ok well then I'm not sure what your getting at I've had mechanics go over Them and they are clean

Either way this wasn't a debate on there condition it was on which car people would prefer. What's is the KBB Ryan I can see you work for BMW could I get an inspection done there too?

Thanks for all the input I'll post pics and a build thread once I bring one home

Just looking out for you. You dont get a $50 or $60,000 three years later for 80% off for no reason. Hope they are at least american cars to account for some of that drop.

We bought them at an auction so I'm only paying $500 over cost

^^ I wonder why all other bidders didnt get the car. Just saying, there are deals to be have at wholesale auctions no doubt. But at those prices they still seem too cheap. That's what Ryan is saying.

I'm not sure they showed up here I liked them and got prices. Guess I never thought of what they're really worth to be honest I know very little about BMW but always liked the style of them

If something is too good to be true, it usually is. But that being said, if you're getting that good of a deal on a car of that caliber with truly no issues, then all the power to you. Good luck.

Not to say that I don't believe you....

but I don't believe you. I would love to see a picture of the auction win for that price.

Too good to be true, but feel free to shut me up and post a picture. ...

Good price, but if you know very little about BMW especially high mileage 335i's, then you may be in for a rude awakening.

You'd be crazy to buy one with 140,000km with no service history, I would not touch one with more than 70,000km or CPO warranty.

It's probably this one. The condition looks okay.

I wouldn't buy a N54 powered vehicle or a diesel without a good service history.

Especially if the owner stuck with the 25000km oil change intervals which is way too long IMO.

Used BMW's are good, both are nice I like the lines of the 2008 better. Get oil and coolant flush on whatever you buy first thing!

When I bought my wifes 5 series we looked at 535i and 550i too. Price wise used they are within a few thousand of the 530i believe it or not.

In the end the fear of crazy maintenance bills on the 35 and 50 made me pick the 30. Although it is nothing like the 550i for power the 530 actually moves pretty good considering the size.

They're trying to sell this Diesel for 32k..

If OP can get it for 15k, that's a steal..
