1080p screen will be the main feature, right? Anything else to expect other than the usual?

But the biggest buzz is around eye tracking, which could be the South Korean company’s answer to Siri. Eye tracking is a technology that has been around for a while, but generally the implementation has been too costly for everyday use. It’s been used in research in everything from how people look at web pages to product design.

Potentially awesome...

Eye tracking sounds sweet, but so does kinect on xbox and nintendo wii ;) it undoubtably will have a toggle feature to turn it off in case it is super buggy. I could only imagine you're reading something on your phone then you glance up to look at the tv and you're at the top of the page on your phone again.

Still, i'm pumped. I just got the nexus 4 so obviously won't be getting the galaxy 4, but I'm exciting with every release android/black berry comes out with.

The S3 has been out since May 2012....
Looks pretty neat, not sure how they had so many leaks this time yet with the S3 nobody really knew much until it was unveiled.

It's almost a year "old". That's pretty good in smartphone years!

Because advertise.

I'm sure everything leaked is part of the new wave of advertising, a way to get people interested enough to watch the stage show opening.

Asides from that, the masses didn't give a crap about the S3, until it was already on the market, and proving to be a viable competitor for the iphone.

I won't be getting this phone but I'm super pumped for it, regardless of what is announced, it will push the bar upwards which is a good thing for the entire industry.

looks like some details are starting to be leaked and pics too

apparently it'll look similar to the galaxy s3 :dunno:

uses a 2600mah battery (500mah bigger than s3) which is good to see, i just hope the upgraded hardware doesn't cancel out the bigger battery and equal crappy battery life again :banghead:

bigger screen (4.99 inches)

Don't really like how they're making it bigger yet again. I think the s3 size is about as big as I'd want a cellphone. If you want a bigger phone, just go with the note 2.

the phone itself is literally only 2mm wider on each side and 1 mm taller to accommodate the increased screen size... and the phone is thinner too to compensate for this. You won't even notice once you get used to it. People always have something to complain about lol. Give me a break.

Calm down, no need to get all worked up. I didn't read all the specs. Didn't realize it was only 2mm wider on each side and 1mm taller.

Amazing how it's both thinner and skinnier than the S3, the same height, and has a bigger screen, and has wireless charging. It cant have wireless charging built it and be thinner than the s3, can it?

S3 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm

Was there really much of a difference between the two?
The internet is saying they preformed about the same.
Plus the dual got LTE.

I would guess it would be the same idea this time around.

Plus, is android even optimized for 8 cores?

Crazy how they made it thinner, a bit smaller, and with a bigger screen, compared to the S3.

Looks pretty nice. 2600mah Battery too.

That press conference was hilarious, so out there. It was like a bad Broadway show but they really showed off the features of the phone well.

The HTC One is bigger but has a smaller screen and a smaller battery..

i see posts here and there about the vanilla android experience being nicer/better than touchwiz and how touchwiz sucks etc.... but it looks similar to the nexus screenshots that ive seen lol.

Whats so different between touchwiz and regular android on a nexus?

Touchwiz is Samsungs skin overtop of Android, like Sense is on HTC phones.

Sure Touchwiz looks a bit cartoony and colorful but it offers so many more features than stock Android, which imo is completely overrated. :dunno:

Possibly, but it doesn't matter, its dead in the water. The S4 will likely sell more in its first month then HTC will sell ones in its lifetime. HTC just doesn't have the marketing Samsung has. Samsung has been very successful in building their own brand with the Galaxy line, you know a Samsung phone when you see it. HTC is still scrambling to find any sort of mindshare or identity. And imo HTC phones look nice and premium but my experience with them is that they are terrible quality. Not to mention terrible software support, and the worst battery life. Plus I hate Sense. Touchwiz maybe cartoony but it offers so many features.

Either way its a matter of choice. If someone prefers the aluminum and more premium feel thats fine.

only reason why i am considering switching from apple to android is cuase with the iphone i have it already jailbreak and do a whole facelift off to suit and fit my need in order to use the phone.

i thought android would already allow me do alot of my modifying of how i want the phone to be.... is that true?

Android obviously is a lot more customizable than Apple in so many ways.

Any custom rom you install on the phone will be Jellybean 4.2.2 but being that the S4 is so new custom roms will be few and far between.

As far as I know, Cyanogen won't be supporting the S4.
(Samsung is not very dev friendly, case in point Cyanogenmod on the S3 has a useless camera, and because of this the team decided to skip the S4)
So keep that in mind.
I know they aren't be the only developer out there, but they are one of the most popular.

So far it looks pretty good. I kinda don't like the viewing angle on the screen but 1080p screen is gorgeous.

The air gestures thing is really cool, which seems like the biggest change from S3. I don't really notice a huge difference between S3's dual core and S4's quad core.

I have to still play with it more but so far I like it.

I was after the HTC One from Rogers. But since I am with Fido, I called them to cancel my contract and port my number to Rogers so I can get the One. They gave me an offer, I just couldn't refuse. Long story short my S4 has been ordered and should be coming in a few days.

Like it so far. Gets pretty hot when it's working hard (restoring from backup, downloading all my apps etc) but cools normally when being used casually.

Lighter than my g2 but a lot more plasticy. Uses a 2amp speed charger, but still slow charges on all my old 1amp micro usb chargers which is nice. No new plug, yay.

$99 Nexus 4 on tab24. Plus you get $75 gift card.

That's like $25 for a 6 months old phone.

I'm certainly not a fan boy, but I read this review and thought it would be good information for anyone considering an S4.

Well, this was certainly a surprise. With expectations understandably high, we can’t help but be disappointed by the ups and downs of the Samsung Galaxy S4's performance under the review microsope.

On one hand, it’s an all-round improvement over the Award-winning Galaxy S3 – but we have to take into account the new rival smartphones that have since popped up and delivered stellar performances all around to deserve their five-star ratings.

The fiercest competition comes from the HTC One and Sony Xperia Z – both of which pip the S4 when it comes to overall picture quality and a smoother user experience, while Apple’s iPhone 5 is still the one to beat when it comes to sound.

We’ve no doubt that existing Samsung users will be hugely attracted to the S4 – if you’re looking to upgrade from the S3 or S2, the company’s new flagship is more powerful and comes with all the benefits of nifty new features and 4G connectivity. But we can’t ignore the performance issues – so if you’re looking for the best overall smartphone, there are alternatives that deliver a much more impressive and intuitive experience.

I went with the S4 instead of iphone 5 and i am loving it. To be honest, i never tried the iphone 5 or the 4S. I'm upgrading from my old 3GS and what a difference. I have the ipad mini at home and i can clearly tell you that the samsung voice kills siri when you ask her to do a task or just general questions. I actually downloaded "assistant" from google play and she's absolutely amazing. She even reads my text messages. I did use my 3GS for a long time and it's an amazing phone but like i said before, i never tried the iphone 5 and i don't think i will after getting my galaxy S4.
