My alarm company is ADT, but they might all be similiar for this type of thing.

I am 1 year into a 3 year contract. I'm moving to a new house, and new people in old house don't want to take over contract.

I have no problem keeping the monitoring subscription for another 2 years.

My only concern is with the equipment.

Do I have to pay ADT to come remove gear from old house and instal in new house?

Or is teh gear so cheap they'd leave it in place and jsut charge a new instal fee?

Anyone know a trick to get them to wave new instal?

Any other thoughts on this?

As per the ADT FAQ's. Yes...you pay

http://www.adt.ca/en/support-centre/faqs

best is to talk to them

From what I remember back in the day when I sold alarm systems, if you move, they will move the contract with you. I worked for an ADT distributor, so we would move them for free, no cost.

Ask a lot of questions, they do not hesitate to include the cost of moving into a new system. If you're willing to restart a new contract, you can get the install and equipment for free. And, since you're staying with them, they'll likely not charge you any cancellation fee.

Go with a distributor if ADT direct is not helping you out.

How do you even contact a local distributor directly?

Every number I try seems to eventually connect to the US call centre.

403-569-4600, option 5 will go to Sales and Service Office reception.

I'm starting to hate this company.

Even the receptionist keeps transfering me to a US call centre, its difficult to understand the people that answer down there.

Is there no way to speak to a Canadin about my ADT alarm subscription and the moving process?

WTF!!!!

Stop paying your bill and wait for them to call you...

They transfer you down to the US if you are moving or planning to move. That is where retention is located. Local doesn't handle disconnects. Ask to speak to someone else if you don't understand their Florida accent.

I don't envy you at all. We went through the same thing 6 years ago with ADT and it was a nightmare. So happy they "allowed" us to cancel without penalty.

There's a Florida Accent?
