My friend's cat left this on his door mat. It looks like a mouse / rat? It's really small, baby / mouse sized. I don't know anything about what either type of baby looks like though? It looks more like a rat to me. Does anyone know what it is?

It does look rather ratlike, doesn't it.

Hard to tell, given the slobber factor.

Size can be a guide. If it's much bigger than a toonie, I'd say rat. Mice are pretty fricking small.

It's way bigger than a tooney. It's the size of a full grown mouse. But has Rat like whiskers and ears.

I'm a kangaroo specialist and I can confirm that this is infact, a baby kangaroo, or a 'Joey' as we call it in the biz.

Just a field mouse. Cats usually bring things they kill back to the front door of the house, as an offering almost. Obviously they dont know their owners dont really have any interest in birds, squirrels or mice though.

If it had a really short (almost hamster like) tail, it would be a vole. Their from the same family as mice. We have those at our farm as much as typical mice such as this.

Damncat's been leaving us voles of late - apparently they had a good year with all the snow...

That looks like a mouse to me...
