I am just wondering if the acura rl's are pretty good cars, I saw one yesterday and I rarely see these cars.

Thank you

They are only rare because no one wants them

Here are the Canadian sales:
2008 157
2009 94
2010 64
2011 56
2012 29

It's a flagship car for them, but be careful of earlier years, lots of problems

haha no kidding

1 of 29 lol

Had an Acura "type - S", probably on the same level as a Corola S for driving enjoyability. The interior was almost as sloppy as the steering.

The plus side is you can do absolutely no maintenance and it will never ever ever die... as long as you purchase a new transmission every 3 years.

They were super expensive, but so were parts for it. For the money, you could do better with a Benz

The second gen RL is one of my favorite cars of all time. It was a much more subtle car than the A6/5 Series/LS but sadly the RL wasn't as refined. SH-AWD was also brilliant, but it is costly to maintain from what I hear.

RL stands for Real Letdown

They would be pretty sweet to mod. Aren't they cheap to buy used now?

So, you've come to give your two cents about the RL by comparing it to a completely different car?

Anyways, in the Used market, when you can find them, I think RL's offer great value for money. The TL does allot of the same work, but the RL finished product is something that is far superior. Everything from fit and finish to appointments is superior to TL's, and in the used market, this is not reflected in the pricing.

I have heard that the 2005's are more problematic than 2006s (well, moreso than one year of age difference would indicate).

If you can find one! I had searched for a 2 years with no real luck. You see a few from the US once in a while, but I've never found one in good condition with full service records. I ended up getting a TL instead, but as Neil mentioned, the RL is a nicer car.

The knock on this car is size. the car drives amazing and nothing like a TL. Build quality is outstanding. The SHAWD send 90% of the power to the rear vs only 70% for the MDX and TL. The RL drives different than anything built by Acura. By that I mean way better. It's expensive and the technology is dated but if you drove one you would see why it is more expensive than a TL. I only can hope the RLX drives as nice.

lol. Just like that?

Personally my opinion, I'd say get one if you found a year, KMs, and condition that you're happy with. Don't let the sales figures fool you. It was always an great car for the money, even when it was brand new. Definitely under-rated and not appreciated at the time, ahead of it's time back then: SH-AWD (amazing AWD tech. esp. back then), a V6 (when everyone was stuck on V8 lux sedans), 'bending' headlights, loaded with features, etc.x

I kind of like the RL more than the RLX hasn't grown on me yet. If you're in the used car market, a good condition RL is a good deal.

2005-2008 KB1 has always been my fav RL, extra sweet in the A-Spec.
