Is there any way of buffing out the scrathes? Very visible when the hood light comes on.

Am i stuck with purchasing brand new items?

#000 Steel Wool and Metal Polish works for my stainless steel exhaust. I suspect it could work the same for your stove.

It can be corrected with the right materials, but I have never attempted to fix scratched stainless steel before.

Big reason why I have become a big fan of induction cooktops over the last couple of years. Today's products give you the same sort of precision and power as a well refined gas cooktop, but you eliminate all of the heavy duty cleaning and subsequent damage to your cooktop.

I think you're basically screwed. Either live with it or it'll be a major hassle getting the scratched parts to match up to the rest of the stove. It looks like it's a brushed finish. I think you'd need to polish the whole thing back to the a mirror finish since those marks are all over the place and then reapply the brushed look.
