This bike has a missing side panel and a dent in the tank from falling over at some point in its life but other than that, it's in pretty amazing shape for a 40 year old bike. It was sitting in a shed since at least 1986.

Best part? Only 2259 kilometers on it.

I don't know when I'll get around to actually working on it but I figured it was worth holding onto.

Sweet score.. I keep my eye on these old bikes quite often.

Picture of the dent?

Holy shit, I saw a couple of these on Kijiji, same with the CB125's. Cool. I really cant see you riding this thing though, is this for you?
I LOVE the old CB's, their iconic bikes. I used to have an '81 CB650 chopper that I really regret selling.

Perhaps Tom with his PDR skills can pull out the dent. Whats up with the wheelchair though, getting old I see?

I'm waiting for better pics of the dent. I bought it off a friend, I saw the bike about 2 years ago when it was first discovered. I don't remember in the paint is cracked or not on the tank but, I'll find out soon enough.

I was thinking of getting Tomco to give me his advice if the paint is not cracked. Regardless, I figured it was too good to pass up on.

And no Graham, I don't think I will be able to ride it hahaha but it'll make a great little collector piece that I can keep for my son if nothing else.

Yeah theres different tricks from PDR to using compressed air and a hair dryer, heating and cooling it.. Youtube has a lot of dent videos.

Well you'll have to wait awhile, no immediate plans! Initial thought though, given the condition, is to keep 100% stock. Just bring back to perfect. :)

^ Yeah thats all I'd do. Scour ebay to find all the original parts, bring it back to new then I'd even leave it in the living room as an art piece. Thats kind of extreme, but it would be damn cool. I had a bike all done up mounted in my living room a few years back. It was cool.

EDIT: With the dual exhausts, is that bike a twin? probably the smallest twin I've ever seen, each cylinder would be not even 90cc's.

Yes, it's a tiny twin. It's a cool little bike for its time.

What's the wheelchair for???

175 is painfully slow. I have a cm175 and I fear going onto deerfoot with it and I'm not a big guy.

Yeah, I don't really plan on riding it. I honestly just thought it would make a cool collectible and also be a good motor/carb to learn some things along the way with. As said earlier, it'll be an awesome bike for my son one day if nothing else.

I was just going to come in here and compliment you on a gorgeous acquisition. Instead I'm going to have a bit of a weep and play out scenarios in my head where I embarrass you in front of your friends.

Oh, I am just kidding. I am laughing kindly sir. :)

TomCo., you actually know my buddy who I purchased it from out in Penhold. I am hoping to have you see about pulling the dent in the tank before I bring it out here. There is no rush but I may PM or fbook message you about it if you are interested in having a look.

Buuuuump.

I finally went and picked this up last weekend. I don't know when I'll actually get around to working on it but for when I do, I need some info:

Where are some good resources to find vintage parts? It is missing the two plastic side covers, other than that it is 100% complete. That being said, when it gets torn down there may be odds and ends that need to be replaced.

Anyone know where to start looking?

I assumed Ebay for some stuff, but thought there may be a more specific source that deals in old vintage perhaps!

haha, no not for anyone really! It came up for sale and I just didn't want to let it go, I plan to bring it back up to like new condition as much as I can and keep it as a collectible. I've sat on it now and at my size I don't think I could execute a 45 degree turn without my knees hitting the handlebar

You have to post a video of it running when you get to that stage.

locally you can give TJ's a shot... but those side covers are hard to come by. i have a single one for a 500, not sure if it fits the 175 though.... and its brown

i bet it will fire up after cleaning out all the fuel lines, tank and carbs.

^ It wont fit, The 500's will work on the 500's & 600's, thats it.

Too bad he's in Toons town... a long ways away. Ebay may be your only source... but google bike wreckers in Sask (there aren't any to my knowledge that deal in much older dirt bikes) but its worth a shot, that and Kijiji.

I just sold what was left of my old '78 XL175 to a guy up in Edmonton for parts, so you may want to advertise you're looking for whatever parts you need, you'd be surprised at who answers the ad.
