Get a USB key and run Microsoft easy transfer (make sure to download the new version designed to transfer to Windows 7). Backup all of your stuff including your setting using easy transfer, and then do a whole new install and wipe everything. Plug the drive back in, double click on the MIG file and restore all of your stuff. That would probably be the easiest way.

I was going to post this exact thing, but you beat me to it!

Also if you need to retrieve any product keys for software you may have installed, download Belarc advisor, it will give them all to you on one page
