I subscribe to Unblock-US to get Pandora on my phone but I need to change the DNS in order to do so and I can only do that when connected to Wi-Fi. How do I change that when connected to the cellular network? I'd like to listen to Pandora in my car.

I've already rooted my Samsung Galaxy SIII and installed a custom ROM but still couldn't change it. And the SetDNS application in the Play store only allows you to change the DNS for third generation networks, nothing more recent.

I'd at least like to get HSPA speeds which is a fourth generation network. Going back before that is like going back in time.
Is there any way to hack the device to change the DNS settings?

Maybe I can write an Android application to tunnel through a proxy at home. It could open a stream with my home server which would open the HTTP connection and push the incoming data through the stream. Does that sound like it would work?

sounds like you're stubborn and don't want it to work, no, not Mar... dude, you said you want it to stream pandora while you're in your car... how much are you using your phone while you're driving that you "need the speed"?

Well maybe I was assuming wrong, would I need the higher speed to stream Pandora? I'm a paid member so I get the high quality stream rate. I just know I'd forget to switch it back when I get out of the car.

According to their site, your audio quality is 192kbps... isn't that pretty much dial-up, lol.

exactly
3G speedtests will be >1mbps for sure unless ur signal is shit

u dont need LTE >10mbps speeds to handle a 192kbps audio stream

Okay cool. So I'm looking at my network options, do I change it to GSM or WCDMA? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

You were just going to write an application.. And now you can't figure out a simple setting? :nut:

And yes you are looking in the wrong spot, you should be looking on google or a cell board.

Does anyone know if the Google Nexus 4 has this ability? I know the phone doesn't have LTE enabled by default so it runs at most on HSPE unless you unlock the LTE. Is there an easier way to change the DNS for any network setting on this phone? I've been thinking about trading my Galaxy S3 for it.
