Does the Radeon "Control Centre" show the TV?

If so, the card is fine and it's just a setting of some sort. It's also possible that you'll have to re-install the driver.

If it doesn't show the tv, try the option to Force Display Detection.

My 5830 did the opposite, a cheap DVI cable took out both DVI/VGA ports and now I have to use a HDMI to VGA adapter. You can do the opposite as well, use a VGA to HDMI adapter and you can still use the card for now. But a new card is like 40$ if its just for multimedia.

If you want, check that Windows has the hdmi enabled. I'll just copy and paste:

In Windows, head into Control Panel and select 'Adjust screen resolution' from the list beneath 'Appearance and Personalization'. In the next screen you should see two different displays.
If all is well, you will be able to see two displays, one of which will be disabled. This is why there is nothing on your TV screen. Using the laptop, click on the icon for the second monitor and choose 'Extend the desktop onto this monitor'. Hit 'Apply'.

If that works, you can then mirror/clone the display.

Other than that, remove the Radeon software and reinstall. If that doesn't help, then yes, the hdmi port is probably toast.

If there were no automatic software updates from Windows or ATI, then you can assume a hardware glitch.

Windows went through a ton of updates over the last couple of days.

Have you tried plugging something else into that hdmi port on the TV?
