I'm curious if there would be any interest in a group purchase of E85/E98 Fuels in Calgary.

Ignite Fuel would be the supplier and would manage the shipping.

After all taxes, barrel fee, etc... price would be around $425 for 55Gal of E98...considerably cheaper than the current VP offering of C85@$700 a barrel iirc.

Just gauging interest...if there are any shops that would want to get in on becoming a supplier let me know and I can fill you in with contact info.

I'm just an enthusiast, no affiliation with Ignite Fuels.

I believe 8 Barrels would probably be good as a minimum.

Also I'm exploring a second supplier that would be considerably cheaper...still pending.

I don't need ethanol but would be interested in a high octane gas - 116ish...if you could get that too.

Race fuel is easily attainable in Calgary. E98 however blows race fuel out of the water and is at least half the cost.

But your fuel consumption is considerably more with alcohol.

Quicker spool, cooler engine temps, better knock resistance, better emissions, etc...are some of the main differences. I recently swapped to E85 and was amazed coming from 110 leaded.

Make sure you have E85 when you take me for a rip this summer haha. The MB forums are all still talking about your car because it easily outruns the S/C'd Black Series cars.

That's my plan ;) ...my car is getting my new fuel system refined now and will have more than 2 hours of tuning into it this time lol...will need to find a nice, safe road.

Yeah, it's easier to get but if another barrel helps you bring stuff in and it's cheaper than local, why not?

I see where your head is at. If there is enough interest for everything I can't see why not ;)

Working on getting some price quotes for E98 shipped to Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg right now. (Should have them next week)

Ignite E98 is $430 for 55Gal and also $30 for the barrel to Winnipeg. I am getting 3 and a friend at minimum 2...does anyone else want any? My friend is willing to pick them up and drop off in Calgary and Edmonton...a barrel of VP-110 is $675 + Barrel FYI and C16 being $875 + Barrel. Mix the E98 down to an E85, E60 or E30 to get that magic blend you may be wanting.

Lemme know ASAP with Delivery this month most likely.

can you get ignite 114 too?

Nothing across the border unfortunately. I think there is another 20 barrels of E98 before the next order will be shipped...and I don't see those moving this summer at this rate.

Currently one barrel has been paid for and picked up...11 other barrels spoken for.

3 confirmed for transport to Alberta, one which will be mine. We'll have to follow Transport Canada guidelines to bring this stuff as it'll be over 500kg of Class 3 PGII fuel...which will be a big PITA but being done by enthusiasts so money is not being made here fyi...loosing in fact...either way anyone who wants some hit me up and we can get the ball rolling and hopefully get the fuel to Calgary and then onto Edmonton in ~3weeks.

Also for those wanting to custom blend this fuel down to an E85 you can get a cheap fuel testing kit (or make your own) to mix a sample of fuel with water and the ethanol will attach itself to the water...and give you your Ethanol to Gasoline mixture percentage.

As an example...98% Ethanol and 2% Gasoline is E98...mix it with MS109 race fuel if you want for an EXTREME! blend of race gas.

Or cut it with 91 or husky 94 to give an 60-80% composition which is better for startup and is probably a more ideal composition for most builds as long as it's tuned for it...best bang for buck IMO.

I can take email money transfer, Paypal (gift it or 3% for fee's), or Cash which you could drop off with my friend who will be delivering the fuel. He lives on the south side of Edmonton.

I just sent him a message to verify when he's making the trip.

EDIT: Depending on your location I don't see why he wouldn't drop it off or you could pick it up at his place. Two people can hand bomb these in/out of a truck...or roll it with a large 2x4.

If you know anyone else in Edmonton who wants some let them know...I think my buddy posted a thing on 780 as well...not sure how many he's confirmed yet but we'll need the cash prior to bringing them back...don't want to get stuck with all this fuel in the garage.

Says he'll be making the trip sometime between May 24- June 1

So I will be running a standalone fuel system for the nitrous and I was planning on running C16. I hadn't considered running E98 as the nitrous fuel but what do you guys think? Any pros or cons of E98 over C16? Race fuel is generally more accessible but I can buy more E98 and bring it along when I hit out of province drag strips (i.e., BC).

E98 has been shown to yield more power on the same boost as running C16...they're very comparable in performance but I would bet the E98 runs alot cooler in the engine.

That being said you will need at least 30% more fuel so the injectors and fuel system need to be built to handle it. The fuel lines are recommended to be PTFE but a regular fuel line will suffice just expect the lines to only last a few years. Pure Ethanol is essentially moonshine.

Recommend cutting the fuel down to an 80% composition if you have cold ignition problems...it's a cooler burning fuel so unless you throw hotter plugs in expect a bit of stumble. E85 purred like a kitten the first time I ran my car cold on it...starting it on E98 here shortly.

Read up on it some more...it's amazing fuel...everyone is making the switch...it's just a PITA to get in Canada.

So what is the final price delivered to calgary?

Commanderwiggin
05-04-2013, 04:39 PM
Price is $460 total ($30 Barrel fee included which is refundable)

The shipping is essentially free unless you feel like helping out a fellow enthusiast for all the time and gas spent; not required like I said.

Bringing 5 Barrels this week...no chance to get anymore as these were specifically ordered.

Me thinks it's easier to just use n/a engines that are 500-800cid and you can fill up on Shell 91, than need to store drums of fuel in my garage :nut:

All fuel delivered ;) If anyone gets a line on any E98 in Alberta shoot me a PM as I'll probably need more at a later date.
