I'm researching places for my gf to set up a table and sell her hand made jewelry and was wondering if you guys know any good places....so far I've contacted Crossroads market and they've told me they're full for at least another couple of months...the one I'm considering is the Wild West Market out by Calaway Park which is every Saturday from June to October.....I'm wondering if anyone's even been to this market and how busy does it get?? It seems really far...do most people who go to Calaway also stop by there?

Any other suggested places would be great! I know of Heritage Market on Macleod but they don't answer their phone so I'll have to make a visit there...

Also, she did one of the festivals last year...Sun and Salsa and she barely broke even cuz the rent was ridiculous...$350 a table a think for one day and most people weren't really there to shop for crafts...Crossroads is $80 a weekend...

You can also try blackfoot flea market. Its between Heritage and Glenmore on blackfoot.

Also, perhaps call but Currie Barracks also has a summer market at times.

I would surmise that the OP's girlfriend has to decide what type of market she wishes to be in as there are flea markets, public markets and approved farmers farmer's markets.

Flea markets would be along the lines of what's going on out at the Blackfoot farmers' Market or the one held up at the Thorncliff-Greenview community association - anything can be sold at these markets and there are no rules/guidelines covering/governing them.

Next up are public markets like Crossroads - looks like a regular farmers' market but still no rules/guidelines covering/governing them meaning that resellers can exist there, people who sell stuff that they don't make. Of note, Crossroads appears to be in the process of becoming an approved farmers' market - see next paragraph.

Last up are the Alberta Government Sunnygirl approved farmers' markets - these markets have to follow a strict set of rules/guidelines to get on this list. The main criteria is that 80% of their sellers have to make/bake/grow the product they're selling in Alberta while the other 20% can bring in product that is made/baked/grown outside of Alberta. Some of these Sunnygirl approved markets govern themselves even more tightly and won't allow the direct marketing people in like the Avon or Tupperware people - they'll only allow people in who have made their own jewellery.

The links the nutella provided above are a good starting point but include a mix of all of the three types of markets I've detailed above - do a Google search on 'Sunnygirl approved market' and the government of Alberta link will be the one that will give you more info.
