I am moving from Australia to Canada with my gf (don't know why im' doing this haha) and we have personal belongings to ship. Clothes, shoes, laptops, electronics etc.
We are spending two weeks in the Philippines prior so we don't want to have all this stuff with us.

Anyways, have ya'll shipped anything this distance before? Who'd you use? It looks very expensive!

Its gonna be retardedly expensive. Best bet would be to figure out what you REALLY need to keep and sell/donate the rest of it.

Off the top of my head would be AMJ Campbell, Brytor and Allied. Get their quotes and then compare that to the replacement cost of stuff in Canada.

Depending on the amount of goods your best option would be to skip the courier/moving companies and ship it yourself as ocean freight. It could take anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on the ports but you would save quite a bit of money. Contact Jori International (www.jori.ca) here in Calgary.

I shipped a turbo to Australia from Canada once using Canada Post and it wasn't too expensive.

Shipping by sea is def cheaper than by air. Food for thought. :)

I used AMJ Campbell to ship all my belongings and furniture to the UK. Paid just under $6K including insurance for 400 cubic ft. It took 3 months to get here by sea.

x2 for selling what you really, truly don't need to bring with you.
