I want Wild to win but it's not going to happen. I think if I'm wrong about anything it will be Detroit beating the Ducks. Also a chance that the Sharks beat Vancouver in as few as 5 if Luongo plays the whole series. Also, the kings could quite possibly sweep St Louis.

If the Hawks end up playing Anaheim they won't make it to the finals.
I almost want to call a Ducks - Penguins finals, but I didn't look at all the potential matchups like I did with Chicago.

Edit - I looked through them all. If Anaheim makes it past Detroit it will be a Ducks - Pens finals.

Join up.

yeah, Quick stood on his head for LA and kept them in it, and then fucks em over. Gonna be a true test of character for game 2 to see if he can shrug that one off mentally.

Faaak my kings got worked so hard. I saw no hope in the last period and then Bam! I lost my voice after my celebration! After getting the power play, I was sure we could score and run away with it.. But then quick! .. That was heart break. I felt for him. He's gotta watch it, he could have injured himself after pounding his head on the ice. We'll take game 2.

No kidding, I was going to watch the Blackhawks / Wild game, but but the Kings and Blues on by mistake. While in the kitchen, I was listening to it, and the announcers were making it sound so intense. I came out, parked my ass on the couch, and it really was, I forgot all about the other game.

Probably one of the best games I have ever watched.

Canucks have made it out of the west in the last 10 years, sharks never have.

Sharks have almost always had higher expectations going into the playoffs because they're supposedly better built for playoff hockey being a 'bigger' team.

At first it kinda got me riled up how many people hate on the Canucks for no *good* reason. (I mean, who cares if there's a Lou chant? Does it really have any bearing on anything?)

But now, I've come to realize that it is far easier for fans of other teams (Flames fans in particular) to rag on the Canucks instead of spending time ragging on the fact their own team has been inconsequential for almost a decade, and will likely continue to be so for another few years minimum.

Sedins don't know what to do in the playoffs? I actually thought nearly a point a game average in the playoffs was pretty decent. But heck - what do I know...

welcome to the down turn, canucks are on there way to a rebuild, watch and see, inconsequential they soon will be.

the sisters dont have the grit, only time they seem effective is on the power play, where they can have space. 5 on 5 they stay out of the hard battles, said it for years not going to win a cup with them on the team.

sxtasy
05-06-2013, 08:26 PM
Kloubek, sorry but lets face it, Sedins are not playoff material at all. Don't get me wrong, they are great puck handlers, but nothing beyond that. They are not physical, they don't know how to raise the intensity of a game and they play mostly a perimeter game. Nearly a point a game is not enough for your top line :dunno:

And yes, there is a Calgary rivalry, so of course your going to hear some smack talk on beyond, but weren't Canucks dubbed most hated team in the NHL? http://m.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/canucks-have-become-nhls-most-hated-team/article2050961/?service=mobile

The antics of Kesler, Burrows and Lapierre, especially from last year, will stick with these clowns for the rest of their career.

One thing that hasn't been touched on, it's easy to hate winners. While the last couple playoffs haven't quite gone as hoped, the nucks have been at the top of the standings in their division, or conference for a while. I don't care who you are, you're going to end up finding ways to hate a team that keeps beating your team.

I definitely agree that the sedins aren't built for playoff hockey. They just don't have that mean streak that's required to hang. As much as people hate on players like bieksa, kesler and burrows, I'm sure most of you would LOVE to have them on your team. 30+ goal scorer for 2m/year?(bur) Who wouldn't want that?

As for the general fanbase, yes, there's definitely a lot of retards out there. The atmosphere in the building generally sucks because of the 'suit section' or the lower bowl that's filled with people that are there because it's trendy, not because they care about the game.

Your first sentence is flawed.

I think the Canucks are now poised to pass the Sharks as the perennial playoff choking team. Always a good season...always a playoff disappointment.

NO, they are whiney bitches that complain about diving..

Boston, Pitts, Chicago, San Jose = have all been good teams for the several years now.. I don't hate any of them

I will admit a few things here so there is public record...

1) Sure, the Sedins are not ideal in the playoffs because they're not physical enough to keep from getting shut down. They still usually produce due to their enormous talent, but aren't capable of upping their physical game to the level it should be in the playoffs and that's unfortunate because they could really flourish if they just had a stronger drive to the net.
2) Yes, some of the Canucks tend to dive. Burrows, Kesler, Luongo are some of the biggest culprits. Diving happens everywhere in the league - not just on the Canucks... but I still wish these guys would just play the game. With that said, I've noticed very little diving from these guys these playoffs at least. In fact, the Canucks haven't displayed almost any of the antics most opposing fans tend to hate them for.
3) Yeah there is some whining. It's usually about the officiating and I'll be honest and say that in previous years it truly did seem like some of the officiating was unfairly against the Canucks. With that said, the best teams find a way to battle through whatever advertsity comes before them. Sometimes you just need to shut your trap and play the game.

I really don't know where Vancouver goes from here. On paper, I still think they have one of the better teams in the league. But on the ice it just doesn't seem to be enough. With the cap going down Luongo is obviously gone, and they're probably going to have to buy out a player or two. They'll actually likely have a very similar team to what they have now start next season (Minus Roy who hasn't done much in the playoffs anyway) but the last couple of years have proven that the status quo is no longer good enough while the competition improves - especially since it looks like the Sedins are starting their decline.

I think if they lose tonight we're going to see a coaching change. AV's record is good, but I think it is the result of an exceptionally talented team for him to work with more than exceptional coaching ability. Ruff is available?

If you don't hate boston, you should. Bobby Orr retired in case anyone wasn't paying attention.

To be honest there was actually one time I "liked" the Canucks. Pavel Bure.

all the class in the Canucks organization left when Trevor Linden retired.

now the team is made up of a bunch of douchebags that whine, cry, dive, hide behind refs and sucker punch other players.

I actually expected them to put Luongo in. I guess this is a statement that he's our #1 no matter what.

Hopefully he has a rebound game.

he had a 3.89 GAA in san jose going into game 3. Place is a graveyard for him.

What's your comment about that video? Are the canucks all innocent? hahahah:zzz:
The video? No. Couldn't agree more. They dive, they whine, they suck a lot of the time. And the city riots. Who the fuck cares? Got any new material? In other news the sky is blue.
All teams and players do whatever it takes. Some are dirty some are pussies. Flames have had many of the same type of players.
On the other hand, Canucks have also made it past the second round numerous times, president cup winners twice, lost to Stanley cup champions 4 times, three times to the finals and the past few years, serious contenders. They might never win a cup in my lifetime. Rangers went went how many years? 54? Might be another 54...for ANY team.

I'm just so tired of the *yawn* "your team sucks" "your team chokes". Ya know what? Every year 29 teams choke. Then of course there are those teams who can't even make playoffs for 4 years in a row, with all-star, award winning players.

you're on a Calgary board, with mainly Calgary Flames fans and you're upset that there is bashing of other teams? :dunno:

why don't other teams get bashed as much as the nucks here? even the oilers don't get the same amount of bashing... :D

First point: Perfectly reasonable.
Second point: Yeah, but the Oilers have proven to be even more useless than the Flames in recent years... so there isn't a lot of point in having a superiority complex about them.

I thought Beyond was all alberta? All of the people I know in calgary have come from somewhere else, I think I only know two people that live here that grew up here, so there's usually a pretty good mix of fans.

Bashing the oilers is like making fun of a kid at the special olympics..

If you ain't first your last...

Will admit that the canucks have been 'trying' to behave diving and dirty play wise. I think Cory in net tonight is the death blow for them and perhaps him as they won't be able to get rid of Luongo.

Coach gone probably as well, which is too bad because he's a good coach. Certainly something missing as a group, seem to have gotten ride of the players they needed most in the playoffs. Torres(whens he's not playing like an idiot, ie as of late) and Mitchell come to mind.

Need to honestly get rid of the sedins, likely you'll see kesler's true colours in the off season, he'll want out for sure blaming everyone but himself.

Welcome to the rebuild...

Sigh. There will be no rebuild any time soon. As much as you want to claim the Canucks are on the same level as the Flames, they aren't. The team certainly needs tweaks and two disappointing seasons in a row is something to worry about, but we've made it to the finals and won President's Trophies with much of the same roster.

I'm not going to sit here and say I know exactly what they need to do... because I don't. I don't understand why the team looks like it is about to be ousted in the first round the second year in a row. Losing players who can't play a physical game is a good start and maybe a coaching change is required - but there are still many good players in the Vancouver roster which can and will continue to contribute going forward.

While they appear to be on the decline, I think the Sedins can very much still be a part of this team. Looking at the stats so far these playoffs, along with Kesler they are the only players that have more than one point. You aren't going to win many games when half of your team can't find a way to score at all.

But with this said, we're talking about players who were very much involved with scoring during the season - like Higgins, Edler, Hansen, Garrison, and Raymond. For some reason they just haven't stepped it up in the playoffs.

Lack of motivation? I dunno. Maybe there IS good reason to look at the coach...

You post quite a bit in the Calgary Flames thread and keep mentioning us so I bet you squeeqee your ball sweat every couple minutes :dunno:

Anyways, I've been semi-cheering for the canucks in game 2 because I had money on them hah! Sharks have had 2 regulation losses this year and theres a good chance canucks will get swept.

I'm excited to see what the islanders can muster against the penguins again. They sure are playing games with MAF haha

I would rather see them play than half the playoff teams.

agreed, i hate the oilers...but at least I can respect them

as for the canucks not rebuilding, same thing was tried with the flames. just need to change a few pieces and were back in it...canucks are in this phase now, on the down turn towards the rebuild.
