This is not meant to be construed as racist, merely a question as
I have some friends from the Phillipines.

What is the deal with KFC? I always see you guys chowin' down
on it at chinook with a ton of ketchup haha.

Oh man that is good.

I am not filipino but I grew up in a predominantly flip area of Winnipeg (the Maples).

Surprised there was no mention of filipino spaghetti (other than the ketchup reference).

Now that I am back in Winnipeg I love going to the filipino food trucks. There are even filipino restaurants in the casinos.

Well here in Canada KFC is closest thing we have that taste like Jollibee Chicken Joy! Lol!!!

If you haven't tried that, when you go to Vegas, grab a taxi and go to Seafood city. They will have a Jollibee there! Don't forget peach mango pie in the order!

Hahaha very good. All on point. Although, I don't 'bless' or 'mano' that often, just really old people.

I've also never used my hands or banana leaves to eat. Most of those I've experienced third hand through family and stuff, I'm too 'white' for some of these. But still funny.

Spam, eggs and rice.

I use to own a Kumon here in Edmonton and I think it's more a Chinese thing.

But ironically I'm Filipino...

They're missing Sari-sari stores and longanisa!

Is it a Filipino thing to eat green mangoes with that fish paste (patis) or is that just my husband and his family thing?

There are only two things he cannot eat around me, that fish thing and ballot.

^^^Yup, Fish Sauce, or Bagoong. Bagoong could be shrimp paste or the dark fish sauce. I also put some red Chili in it. Daaaamn, time to go to superstore and get those green mangoes!!!

What if Sam Pinto asked you to eat ballot or eat bagoong and she will get down and dirty with you. Will you do it?

For reference....I think she has been the no 1 Sexiest Filipina on FHM for two years now.

Balut is so good. If it wasn't so bad for you, I'd eat it more often.

The broth from balut is probably the best I've tasted too. It's like pressure cooking a duck, extracting all of its juice into a wonderful espresso intense broth.

Holy, how did I just see this thread now? I'm showing my mom that video for mothers day! lol

Jordan, you're white washed as hell! You seemed pretty Filipino to me in Jr. High.

inside an elevator at work and I just about threw up once

Haha, I was born here, so I'm very selective on what I eat. I don't eat most Filipino foods. I'm the biggest potato ever.

Hate karoke with a passion!

I was born here too. Hate filipino food unless my mom cooks it hahaha. She westernized everything for us.
Everytime I eat real filipino food I think it's gross.

They way my parents said things confused me when I got older hahahaha

There are three Filipino restaurants by my work--what should a white person order who has never eaten Filipino food before? Looking to expand my lunch options... Only thing I won't eat are the cooked whole fish.

Sisig (sour pork) and rice is always a good start (Unless they aren't using fresh pig)

pancit (Filipino noodles), turon (deep fried banana rolls), Tapsilog (garlic fried rice, beef strips and egg), sinangag (garlic fried rice), and finish of with dessert like Leche Flan (custard) or Halo-Halo (Mix of cereal, jack fruit, coconut, tapikoa balls, and milk) if they have it. (Be careful with Halo-Halo some places sell a big serving of it, so check with your server before ordering)

Couldnt have said it better myself for people to try.

I would add mitchado( (beef stew) to the list

Sisig is not sour pork; that's sinigang. Sisig is sizzling pig cartilage.

I love Filipino street food. Isaw ftw!

This. Truth.

balut = fermented aborted duck fetus :barf: :barf: :barf:

I hated the mano thing having been born and raised in Toronto, I'm related to everyone. My mom would give me the stare if I didn't "mano" the whole fucking GTA. before I went for the crazy huge filipino food potluck. :bullshit: that's why partially why I moved out at 19.
