They own the rights though don't they, so they can release it to whatever regions they want?

Have been watching some old episodes to get back into the show. Still hilarious. Didn't realize it has been gone for so long though.

Gotta watch the new ones in a non stop series. There is also a documentary out now, download from iTunes or stream directly:

I just signed up for a one month free NF account, keeping it if the content is worthy. Cheers schocker for the reminder.

I'm still slowly working through the first season haha

I was not finding anything beyond season 1 on NetFlix Canada. Not the best user interface on the planet, one needs to click on the SEASON 1 button to get access to the other seasons.

Netflix said they want to double their original content, seems like a winning strategy.

It's a funny show and all, my problem (as with all sitcoms) is that there's just nothing there to capture my interest and attention. I find myself laughing, but growing bored, and I don't really have any strong desire to watch the next episode. Anyone else feel this way?

No problem. I woke up early to watch it on there
Glad they brought it back. If they keep adding stuff it is well worth the monthly cost. I wish we could get the amazon streaming here though as they are starting their original content also.

Watched the first 4. The first one is kind of weak (but still good) IMO but the other 3 are top notch!

About half way through, it won't live up to the hype, but its alright :dunno:

Kinda weak, like having lunch with an old GF and wondering what all the hype was about. Worth the watch, but I'm not watching each episode three or four times like I did with previous seasons. Once be enough for this fanboy.

To me, it seems like they had enough substories and plotlines but only 14 episodes to run them in...

I find myself getting lost way too fast, as they don't take enough time with the references (not that I'm slow) but its nowhere near engaging like the previous seaons...

i'm only episode 4, but so far its a disappointment...

and what happened with Portia...

^I agree with you. I keep having to rewind a couple seconds here and there and catch up. I feel a couple of the subplots get strung on a bit too long, especially the one with Marky Mark (I think you see him first during Lindsay's first episode) or whatever his name is.

Just finished 5-8. I'd say they're stronger than the first 4. All the parallel story lines start tying together by 7-8 in a manner I feel is reminiscent of the original run. I still don't think it compares to the first 3 seasons but I think it's getting there and it's still entertaining nonetheless.

I concur, first 3 episodes had too much going on and all over the place.
First decent one was with Lindsay.

The old show, pay off is pretty quick.

Here, the way it's shot and sequenced, it's almost designed for binge watching.

After watching it in netflix format, and the re-edited timeline version, they really messed up on this.

This article basically sums it up...
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/05/28/why-arrested-development-s-4th-season-is-a-bust-contracts-and-more.html

I think a big part of the "binge viewing" format is the reason netflix originals just don't play out well. There is no opportunity to recut or rework any episodes as viewer feedback comes back in.

Based on this thread, I started watching the show and just finished the first and second season.

IMO, it's one of the best (if not the best) comedy sitcom I've ever seen. I don't get how such an award winning, critically acclaimed show had such low viewership, while all that mindless shit on tv often gets high viewership.

Oh wait, I know:banghead:

after finishing the season 4, I want more!

its amazing how cleaver the character stories intertwines, and that they got everyone back from the origional cast, including Parmesan

the first 5 episodes were just too spastic, and hopefully didn't discourage others from watching the rest

Things don't pick up nicely til ep 7.

What season 4 make me realize Tobias makes the show and the the 1 character per episode way isn't cutting it.

Agreed on the 1 character thing.

I'll keep watching it though:)

Watch the re-edited version from pirate bay, it is chronological and drastically improves the pacing. Some jokes don't work as well because of it, others work better.

^ Haven't seen that one yet, but looking forward to it, as he's one of my favorite characters.

The last one I watched was Tobias's. The guy is so oblivious that just about everything he says is hilarious.

Admittedly, I think the back and forth confusion between George Sr. and Oscar has become redundant.

Finboy:

I'm watching season 4 from a 9.87 GB torrent, but I just noticed that the opening of each episode shows, "A Netflix original series". So what is this difference you speak of:)

The order of the episodes is changed.

It's totally screwed and over complicated. I'm on episode 14 I think and I'm ready for it to end.

I'm glad I saw season 1 and 2 and regret not having seen them earlier.
