I owned this car for over 6 years. Was involved in an accident last year when a lady ran a red light and clipped the front left side of the car as shown in the pictures. Insurance chose to write off the car. They classified it as Salvaged "Repairable" which means that once the damage is repaired, it needs to be reinspected by a licensed mechanic before you can register it.
The damage is to the body. Engine,etc.. is fine. In fact, I drove the car to my sister's place after the accident. I was thinking of fixing it this summer as this was my baby but with my 3 BMW M3's and my new car arriving this summer I won't have time to fix this, and thus I am selling it.
It basically needs:
a new hood, left front fender, left headlight assembly, front bumper, to get it certified back on the road. The damage was not really bad, I even have the front bumper inside the car (you can see it in the picture), the front bumper sustained little damage however, the bumper was hanging on one side so I just removed it.
I should also note that the car was outside and suffered through last fall's hail storm. Nothing major but there are a few hail dents on the car. And the duct tape you see in the picture at the back window? One of the hail penetrated through the plastic window at the back so it was taped up to prevent water from getting into the car. The rag top is not damaged, just the rubber on the back window (BMW did not have a glass window for their convertibles during that year, just that flexible rubber). It should be an easy fix as it was not a big rip in the rubber.
Aside from that, in the picture, you see a spare tire rim on the passenger back, I have the original tire/rim as well. So full 4 tires/set and the spare tire/rim you see in the picture.
Also, there is one small rust spot (it is shown in the red circle in one of the picture). It is just under the trunk lid.
No stories on the car, I owned it for 6 years, bought it from Sunridge Mazda and it was my baby. Sad to sell my baby but I would rather see it back on the road good as new with a new owner who will restore her :)
