I know when my aunt was in a like situation, she too refused to learn how to drive a standard from my uncle. Turns out my uncle was the problem (poor communicator (she said), no voice volume control (she said), etc), they arranged for a driving school to instruct my aunt and she now drives a standard with no worries. Have you tried offering your wife a driving school instructor option as an alternative? A pro can take the emotion out of the situation, they know how to communicate as they do this everyday.

That's great advice and I'm going to run the idea by her tonight when she's home for sure.

I think the issue is that she's scared to learn more then me being impatient. I taught he how to play tennis, golf, etc. with no issues. She just doesn't like driving vehicles she's unfamiliar with, she wouldn't even drive my auto f350 more then a few blocks because she thought it felt like a bus. I'm going to try to set her up with driving classes though, atleast that way it'll save my car.
