Need info on older VW Diesels

I'm getting impatient in my search for a DSM, so I've also started considering older VW diesels (1991-1994), but I can't find any information on them since they weren't made in the US until 1997. Can anyone help me out with specs, etc? Also, most of the ones that come up for sale have very close to, or over 200k kms, that worries me. Should it? I can't find any info on reliability, etc. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
