Good turnout. Lots of muscle

I ran [email protected]

1.74 60ft.

Turned into a bad day for a few vettes when I showed up.
:poosie:

Is anyone starting a fastest alberta import drag time thread this year?

Bone stock. 2014 MY.

Honestly the car has 11.1 in it easy. I filled up in leduc. That's 100lbs extra gas. I had the tire pressure at 31psi hot. I could of lowered that to 20 gotten my 1.6 60 ft.

And DA was 3300 ft @9pm.

All in all car makes tremendous power stock. Don't think a stock Zr1 can take a GTR at our altitudes.

Is there really any point, when the list will just end up looking like this?

1. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
2. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
3. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
4. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
5. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
6. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
7. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
8. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
9. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123
10. Nissan GTR, 11.3-11.4 @ 122-123

My sarcasm is based partly on two other local data points I've seen here in Edmonton, in addition to yours:
11.407 @ 122
11.37 @ 123

These cars are nothing if not consistent it seems.

Darkane

^ interesting. Were those other cars stock? GTR is mr. Consistent that's for sure.

haha I was about to say. GTR's are so consistent and so fast at this altitude, nobody has a chance without a lot of $$$. And when they finally beat the stock GTR's they'll be raped by a GTR with some basic mods!

The first one I listed was a 2013 black edition which was definitely stock. The 2nd one is member B-Town from 780. I'm not sure if he's modded at all or not.

Any chance you could get 60ft times? Maybe 1/8 mile mph also? I wouldn't mind seeing if my car is actually making anymore top end power vs a stock '13.

Apparently it does with new injectors. Fatter curve.

My buddy was there with his white C6 Vette and his friend had the grey ZR1, my buddy ran 11.5 @ 126 mph and his friend ran 11.2 @ 133. You can definitely see how your low 60 foot times are helping versus the lower trap speed, no highway races against Vettes for you, haha. With my 911 turbo I was running 11.7 @ 123mph, with my modified Elise I was running 12.7 @ 114mph and with my Viper I'm running 12.6 @ 120 mph (2.0 60 foot) can't launch.

11.3 is so amazing for a stock vehicle, crazy to me.

Edmonton International Raceway - located in Wetaskiwin County very close to Wetaskiwin.

Castrol Raceway - located in Leduc county very close to Nisku and Leduc.

Stratotech Park - located in Sturgeon County right next to Fort Saskatchewan.

At least when Calgary had a race track, it was within city limits - the days are long gone when we will ever see a motor sports facility within a reasonably close distance to Calgary. Too many NIMBY's that own their little ranches (call them acreages) around Calgary and even the surrounding bedroom communities and even farther out - hell, even the now defunct little dirt oval the was located somewhat near Aldersyde had vocal NIMBY opponents.

As a final note, Calgary's late race track (Race City) was not officially in Calgary when it opened back in 1985 - it only really became "Calgary's" race track in 1989 when the city of Calgary annexed the land upon which it was situated. In reality, Calgary International Raceway was probably the last race track that started operations within Calgary's city limits - of note, here's an interesting web page (link (http://www.dragracealberta.com/Calgary_Shepard.html)) with lots of historical stuff on the Shepherd track (which became Calgary International) - do remember going to the races there such a long time ago. Hard to believe they used to run stuff like this - things sure have changed...

Where Calgary International used to be (link (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151451836064279&set=gm.485872404801465&type=1&theater) )...

Remember when they had the turn at the end of the drag strip and one jet dragster that didn't make the turn and went through the fence.

Anybody have any idea if the events at the Castrol track include bikes? The trackjunkies website seems to be exclusively for 4 wheelers, they recommend 'another organization' but I do not know of any.

I know the thread's a bit old but I ran against a new GTR mid-July at Castrol...older guy in a brand new silver one. Best pass that I saw was against me at 11.22. I think he went a best MPH of 123-124.

Pretty impressive for a bone stock car!

I bet he at least had an aftermarket exhaust :poosie:

Was it loud? If so he lives close to me and has some real money into it. If it was just bone stock still impressive numbers.

No, it was whisper quiet. So uneventful to watch it go down the track.
